  • New Godin Redline 1

I played one of these for an hour today, very nice!

I like the idea of it being made in Canada (most of them are, I think)
    for some reason.

The description is funny considering in person it's a very low key and subtle looking guitar.

Just a Floyd away from being a truly killer guitar. Soooo close!

Nice. If I had the cash I might check it out. There is a pretty good Godin dealer around here.

What did you like about the guitar?

The Godins I have played have been nice well made guitars. The price is on most models is nice as well. Some are made in Canada and some are assembled in the US from Canadian made parts.

This guitar seems to be quite in the vein of a COW DK6.
I dig the concept, but prefer the look and features of the DK6.

BTW, is it bolt-on, neck-thru or what?
I can't tell from the HC description (and the Godin website doesn't tell either).

I thought neck-thru because of the poplar WINGS, but the neck and body wood seems to be different... so what is it?

I don`t like the headstock, but I am interested due to the single hum, 1 volume knob and did you guys see this-24.75 scale Jack.

Whats with the different string paths? Its nice when builders can actually choose between a truely straight path or a path that a bit off. Here they said, fuck it, lets do both. Seems half assed to me........

Lots of Godins in local stores, all the ones I have tried have played very well, the only reason I don't own any Godin is the aesthetics...

Do you mean the intonation saddles?

Uh oh! I'm not good at articulating but it felt really solid and had a nice feeling neck and action.
The high gain sound was hot as you would expect, but the clean sound was nice, didn't have too much twang that solid body sometimes have.

Plus $450 is a good price

I agree, the COW looks better, Godins are a little strange looking.

                          $450 eh? Not bad

Was it a neckthru or a bolt on?

Also, how was the neck as far as the profile goes?

It's a bolt on, with a kind of a contored hell, the neck seemed a little deeper than a DK2M but a little less wide.

Would installing a real Floyd on this possible? I'm curious.

                              450$ for the guitar
                              200$ for a Floyd
??? Labor for installing the Floyd

That sounds still a good cheap guitar to my wallet...

And if the neck on this plays as good as on my Godin LG Signature... I'm sold... I need to try one...
