  • Dean Black Gold V's and ML's

I know not everyone's too keen on Dean's, but I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Black Gold Series, namely the V and ML shapes. Good? Bad? Anything?

I have a Black Gold ML.
It's a good guitar but it needs real pickups. The stock Dean units don't have any punch whatsoever.
I put in a Super Distortion and PAF Pro and it sounds real nice now.
Build quality is very good, but not flawless. The neck binding on my guitar is a bit rough in places. Playability is great. The neck is smooth with a low action and the guitar stays in tune pretty well.
I got this guitar mainly as a gigging tool and it does the job nicely.

I have two issues with Dean from a consumers standpoint.

the ml looks like an explorer with a V coming out the bottom, can't deal w/ that.

and somehow the name "Dean" is not something I want on my instrument, can't get over that one either, illogical as it may be. I would have been fine with Zelinsky but....
