  • Peavey Vandenberg

Heres one of my latest pawnshop finds. Scored this for $200. These guitars really impress me. I always kinda digged the body shape back in the day but never really took Peavey seriously. But this one popped up and I couldn't resist. Not a big fan of the Kahler Spyder trem but it does it's job. I'm now half assed looking for a Custom Quilt or the Custom with the Puzzle Graffic...

    Anyone have one of these?

Wow Bengal, hell of a score there. $200.00? You are kidding, right - that thing is near mint! I had a couple in the past and still have a body lying around somewhere. I was always really impressed with the quality of those. Great guitars that were really overlooked. I also had to get past the "Peavey" thing, but once I did - wow.

Nice Score. For $200.00 I would have bought two! I retired my Black Vandenberg. I bought it in 90 I think. It was and still is a great guitar. Now it is just sitting in a case resting.

Those are one of my dream guitars. Everytime I get a chance to play one, it blows me away.
Of course, the owners never want to let it go

I think the Peavey Vandenberg is one of the most underrated guitars ever made. It has an extremely loyal following from those of us that bought them early on. Most people overlooked them but they are players for sure. There was one model with a trem that cast a shadow over the whole line, I can't remember which one that was.

              Thanks for the comments guys!

I love this guitar. The neck took a bit to get use to. Very thin. But once I did, I can fly all over this thing. The stock pickups are pretty good too. I was going to replace them but I don't think so now...

              MortonP,
I'm not too thrilled with the color either. But that's one of the reasons it was so cheap. But being a child of the 80's, I got use to it pretty quick...

                Jack,
Maybe the neckthrough Customs? I totally agree with you. I was going to call this thread "Best Kept Secret". The public can underrate this guitar all they want, just more for us...

I never owned one, but a good friend of mine had one in school back in the late 80's. I think over 2 years I played it more than he did. Always thought it was a great guitar. Nice score and love the 80's neon pink paint job

For $200 you stole that guitar. I have a Destiny that is currently a project. Actually I just need to paint the damn thing. The Vandenbergs and Destinys are awesome guitars, and way underrated.

The color is definitely a big plus on this guitar!

I think the Kahler Spyder trem was the one that cast a dark cloud over the line. The customs are great guitars. I have one with a Kahler 2700 on it and it never gave me any problems.

I too always loved those body styles. Do they come in other colors rather then just pink and the puzzle graphic?

They come in all the colors, there are a few neck thru quilt top ones out there as well, They are getting pretty pricy, nice score, The Tracer Custom in SSH is almost identical to the bolt on Vandys, slightly different body, same exact neck
