You got a great deal for that price! I have a Rock-it Pink one (think Pepto Bismal pink) and a very rare maple board one, supposedly one of six made for Vandenberg for playing shows:

Also have a USA V-Type with the ebony board and 'mud-flap girls' 12th fret inlay:

      Mountain Dog,
Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is your Vandenberg Black and Army Green? That Vandy is freakin' AWESOME!!! I'll take that one off your hands for you... You know... If you like...

I played several of the new V-types in stores... they were ok, except one with a purple quilt finish. That one was extremely GREAT!
It just sounded way better than the others.

An employee of the store quickly snagged it for himself, before me or my buddy could lose the battle against our sudden (and unexpected) GAS.

The only knock on the Import V types that I've heard is the ceramic pups aren't very good. the MOP/MOTO/Abalone? not sure which, binding looks pretty cool, as well as some damn nice quilt tops, but retailing at $900 or so, with Peaveys crappy resale value, makes it a tough buy
the real high end neck thru Vandys have a "Chain or Brick" like pattern on the fret board

It's the normal wood color body (alder?) that had 4 straight lines of black sprayed on (like if you took a can of Krylon and held it a 6 inches from the body and made a quick pass, then repeated 3 more times from a different angle), then clear-coated after that.

There was one just like your pink one that hung in a local pawn shop for years while I was in high school. I liked it, but couldn't stand the pink. I stopped in a few weeks ago - the guy never sells anything - but the Vandenberg was gone.

I've never been a fan of reverse headstocks really. Don't know why. Something about the Jackson headstock just looks wrong when flipped to me. But this headstock looks like it was designed to be reversed. That plus the "stairs" knotched into the tip of the headstock just look cool...

I agree with Bengal about the Jackson reverse headstock. I think the Peavey, ESP, and Ibanez headstocks look good reversed.

Most reviews seem to indicate they place nice but have crappy pickups. I'm considering buying a white neck-through one with trem myself

All the new ones are neck thru right?... My current and only guitar now is neck thru so I would of like to get a maple board 2 hum bolt on Vandenberg.

I don't like the way the new V-Type tuning pegs look. Here's a link to the V-Type page at Peavey. http://peavey.com/products/browse.cf...TypeSeries.cfm
