  • how come we never see this bridge used?!?!

It seems ingenius to me. Put a locking nut on the headstock and you'd have EXCELLENT tunign stability. People always yapping about nuts needing work, tuners slipping, locking tuners, etc....

This would be a great bridge, but Im guessing it isnt a direct retrofit onto a regular TOM bridge?!?!

Caparison uses them and also I think Tony Iommi used to use.
I think it is great but looks bit odd.
I have a Gibson TP-6 I will be installing on one of my guitars.

They do use that Schaller 456 on the 25th Anniversary Kelly.
Crafted with the demands of the discernible player in mind, Jackson guitars give you the shapes, finishes and tones you love. From the venerable Rhoads, Soloist, Warrior and more, shop Jackson for the highest performance.

According to Jackson's website, they use it on the Mark Morton model, too, but they fucked those specs up. LOL

        ahh.

But no locking nut on the Kelly. Doesnt make sense to me.... Gosh you'd think those buggers would be tuning heaven with a locked nut!

Eh, I don't see a need for a locking nut, really. I put a Gibson TP-6 on my Les Paul, it stays in tune fine, just as well as it did with the regular stoptail.

My 1992 Robin Tedley has a tunomatic with the fine tuner stoptail and a flold locking nut. Works perfect and stays in tune extremely well.

My Caparison has one of those, it's a really great feeling bridge. Totally comfy even more so than a TOM. The RAN I ordered will have one of those too.

to eliminate the nut and tuners in the equation of tuning stability. if you lock the nut strings wont bind in the nut and movement of the tuners (and/or strings wound around the tuners) are a non-issue when it comes to stability.

all my Floyd guitars stay in perfect tune even if i dont play them. i just pulled my Music Man out of the case tonight and it was very flat. i havent had that problem with my Floyds yet, and probably wont ever

I think if I ever get a custom I'll put one of those bridges in. I might put one in a guitar in the future. Seems like a really good idea.

They used'em on Carvins back in the mid 80's also.

I installed one on my 82ish NJ series BC Rich Eagle and it looks cool as hell, with a kahler behind the nut too.

I think they should make the string pivot point a roller though like on some of the other newer designs out now.

from what i understand, the big reason that you don't see that bridge on many guitars is because it is butt ass ugly
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Exactly, plus an added benefit is that your guitar won't get knocked out of tune if your singer accidently bumps into your headstock & tuner knobs!

I used to have a Carvin with that bridge on it. My daughter has it now so it's still around
