Funny because I have a Masterbuilt Strat going through the shop (Mark Kendrick) and I am having the same fret markers you are. Diamond shape, the difference is that mine a tad smaller and they will be mother of pearl.
Yuriy is such an awesome builder.

The guy is Yuriy Shishkov (Russian who moved to the USA in 1990)
He is one of few Senior Master Builders in Fender CS.
Prior to Fender he was working at Washburn CS in 1991-1999 (actually for a long he was Washburn CS) where he made guitars for Nuno, Dime, Jennifer Batten etc...

He has no personal site, though there's a site run by his Russian fans, but it's in Russian.

As for cost... Well it was ordered a year ago and the cost is almost the same (a notch bigger) as the avreage J/C CS price for 2007. And this is Senior Master Built.

damn a neck thru strat head/soloist?

not actually a neck-thru, but set-neck made in neck-thru fashion.
I wanted it to be set-neck because I wanted the guitar be very lightweight, so having a chunk of maple in the body would not be a good idea. Tone wise I didn't want add maple to the ash body as well. And I didn't want bolt-on. And because J/C doesn't offer set necks, I have ordered it in Fender CS. Due to unusual specs it had to be masterbuilt, and I have obviously choose Yuriy to build because he is Russian, he knows well how to make metal guitars and he knows how to make feather-weight guitars. I have tried Jennifer Batten guitar, when he had clinics in Russia, and I also have tried his new Buddy Guy guitar (he has recently made new lightweight Tele for Buddy - two pieces to choose and the second one was sold afterwards, though without polka dots). Both sounded fantastic and weighted close to nothing.
