  • Played an Ibanez last night...

A guitarist in one of the opening bands named Josh...He has been playing for only 3 years and the kid is awesome...I will be practicing today...

    Played like Mahammed...
The story behind the new Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos guitar. Featuring Muhammed Suicmez of Necrophagist.

Anyhow...He had a 7 string Prestige. The frets and board were incredible! 5 pc Wizard II neck.

Never played an Ibanez like that before...Always some un kept fiddle at a music store.

Coincidently...I persuaded a local music store to order a Ibanez Xiphos...Too many cool features for under 1000. So I get first crack at it when it comes in. If I like, I will be posting pix and a review...It also has a 5 pc Wizard neck...Although it is a neck thru and a 6 string...I would be sold if I knew this guitar had close to the same neck feel as the prestige.

Anyone try one of these (Xiphos) yet?

I'm ordering one very soon. I was between a WRMG and the Xiphos and as far as price and features, I can't afford not to buy the xiphos.

By the way....I uploaded that video...ha.

That should be the Rg1527. I have one with me and it's really a nice guitar, great player JAckson needs a 7 string in that budget with floyd! Good luck with your Xiphos

If I could find a Warrior (Neck thru) to my door for under 1000 CAD...I would.

I know so little about Ibanez...What level of quality would the Xiphos be? A step down from a Prestige?

For the price, it would probably be made in Korea or even indonesia (The X-series V's are). Prestiges are going to be made in Korea very soon but I doubt the quality would be inferior if Ibanez's higher end is going to be made there. I personally disliked ibanez until I tried a few I actually liked not too long ago. As far as quality, the only concern most people have are the edge 3 tremolo which some say are great and some hate. If it can be set up properly, I heard it can be fine, but it can also be fitted with an original floyd rose without extra routing/drilling etc.

It HAS been the rumor for awhile and Korean guitars have been in general getting pretty nice. I wouldn't be surprised if they moved the prestige line to Korea.

Ibanez sales are growing fast and Fujigen factory has its limits. So Ibanez had to move top S-series, SZ-Series and basses to Korea few years ago. But the problem is still there. They are looking for the way to expand the production in Japan, but it's not that easy.
                            Because I don't say it
                            Doesn't mean I ain't thinking it

                              From what I've read Ibanez is moving some of the production;

                              from Indonesia to China
                              from Korea to Indonesia
                              from Japan to Korea

And the last line is for the prestige series
