  • New US Masters Prototype

Not in production yet. Still on the drawing board. I spoke with Dave and these guys really really know their stuff from a players perspective with regards to design.

They have some VERY unique design concepts. I might have to try one of these when it comes out. They are in the process of designing their own floating trem which should be an improvement over anything on the market.

Check this out....were talking unrestricted access to the 24th fret. Will be available in set neck or their own patented bolt on design... ME HAVE GAS

From what I understand Floyds are made by 3 companies now - the best ones being made by Schaller in Germany. And they have OK posts - not great.

Also improvements on saddles are in the works apparently. Know anything about Vigier and their design ? Vigier has made an improvement.

Also Floyds don't have adjustable saddles to accomodate fingerboard radius.

So what - companies should have just stopped trying to be innovative once the Strat was designed by your logic?

I had a pair of US Masters guitars. Both were H-H with Floyds (Sportsters I think - one was Trans Green, and the other was yellow/black Lynch Bengal. I can't begin to comment on the overall quality of these guitars. It was truly remarkable.

Cool, looks like carbon fiber! +1 one on innovation. The Floyd can be improved upon for sure.

The Floyd design is adequate, but there is a ton of room for improvement.
As stated above, the saddles need to be adjustable for different neck radius.
Shimming will do the trick in most cases, but it's a real PITA.
I have two guitars that would be much better players if I could get the Floyd to match the neck radius better.
And there needs to be a better way to intonate the damn things.
I HATE setting the intonation on a Floyd.

EDIT: Oh yeah... I think the guitar looks great.

Ive often thought adjustable saddles on a floyd would be cool. But then i just go play my guitar and dont care anymore. The saddles are of differnt heights on the floyds so they do conform to a radius of the FB to a point. But if you need to adjust that radius you have to replace a saddle or two or four. would interesting to see what they do to the floyd.

                  I dig it...

And some new thinking in guitars, from pickups to locking tremolos, is something I'd welcome.

US Masters quality is off the charts bros!! I had a LeGrand Lacewood a few years back and the quality was sick I sold it because the frets were tiny I think their headstocks are fugly, but not as bad as GMW. These guys really know how to make guitars and their bolt on design heel is ingenious to say the least!! They should use the Original Floyd or Kahler Pro. I won`t buy a special trem guitar. Jack.

They have the ball bearing pivot posts dont they? Ibanez have got ball bearing pivots too with the ZR trem on the S470 series... I have no idea how much different they would feel to a normal floyd but it sounds like a good idea

+++++1 Yeah, that shimming sucks. They spin around and you have to have a small screw driver or needle to keep them from slipping under an adjacent saddle. A very tedious job!

Wow! It looks like US Masters has been up to alot since I last checked them out. Good call on finally changing that amateurish-looking logo on at least some of their guitars.

US Masters builds all the high dollar USA Deans, real quality stuff. Nice looking guitar, ugly headstock.

I agree about the headstock - don't like it especially on a shred guitar. I think its not that much different than a PC1 though.

Problem is they would have to change the computer and machinery and come out with a whole new line of headstocks.

I asked if they could make me a custom headstock and they can't because of the above. They have to do everything in large lots to make it financially feasible. Damn - I love the body style.
