  • For all the Gibson Freaks...how f'd up is this!

My contempt for the pudds currently running Gibson is pretty well known. Wrecking a perfectly good guitar company with fourth-right greed.

About 8 months ago, I bought a couple of Standard limited Ed's. One looked good the other is a fuggin' Pig! I got them from a " new-to-me" dealer in Wichita Kansas, who wanted to give me a hard time about sending the one sub-Standard back.

Fine...(never buy from EM Shots, again)
I ended up calling an exec with Customer Service at Gibson and running over the problems with him. They know me, I know them, it's a long story. He's like "fine, send it in, I'll look it over, if it's defective we'll replace it". This is the company that "CUTS DEFECTIVE GUITARS IN HALF" and disgards them.
For some retarded reason, I filled out the warranty pamphlet..I never do that, because sometimes I end up selling; if I don't groove with the guitar (you know what I mean). Gibson sends me an acceptable replacement, which looks fine and new. Not perfect but "good enough"...so I go about my life, like normal.
Last week, I get an e-mail from a guy. Right...right..right out of the blue. It's the guy that has the guitar now. Turns out he had a problem with a LP Standard LE and sent it to Gibson. They decided to replace his defunctoid for him with a BRAND NEW Standard (sounds fukin familiar?). They sent him my rejected return LE and told him it was HAND PICKED from BRAND NEW MANUFACTURER's STOCK. Some retard pulled the thing from the rejectoid scam stack and never checked the warranty card. It was the same serial number, same problems, same fukin guitar.

The dude asked me to write him a letter about what happened on my end and have it notorized. He was infuriated, I agreed. No freakin problem, brother.....

Now that is the ultimate in sleaze. Just wondering, could it be that you have his original guitar? What did he say was wrong with his original?

Hah, I just ordered a LP Vintage Mahogany today!

I'd like to think that the replacement I got wasn't a blem or return...but who the hell knows now? My HAND PICKED LP Standard was picked out by the VP of Quality Control 8 months ago. I actually have an e-mail from Gibson staing that as "proof".

Funny thing look at this picture of my replacement..it's got a melted knob! Maybe they don't have a vision beneftis program at Gibson. That would explain some of the problems
      Get sum glasses bitch!

wow that is some insane disregard for the customer right there.
how they expect to get away with that in this internet instant-information age I have no idea. what idiots.

and that knob looks broken from the pic, is it really melted?

Sorry to hear about the probs. And, yeah, that's F'kd up.

Tell me what you think about the Standard Limited Ed models, please. Of all the LP models out there, that one seems to have the specs that appeal to me the most. About the only thing missing (from my preferences, at least) is real MOP inlays and locking tuners. How do they sound? How's the tuning stability? Wish they came in some other finishes.

Glad that I have nine years of experience as a luthier and guitar repairman, so I avoid bullshit like that by just taking care of things myself.

If I don't like a guitar, I'll sell it, no problem. I don't return it to the factory, I'll take it to a trade show or a shop, so I can trade it for something else. I'm always homefree.

Really? Or was that a exagerration?? I dont think any company can survive if they start destroying every defective guitar. Even a "defective" gibson is worth at least a $1000.

Even Jackson "claims" to destroy defective or rejected guitars.
We all know that is not true. Look at the Sub Camo run.

I bought a brand new Gibson Explorer Pro a couple years ago that had a knob that looked like it had been chewed by a two year old. The dealer sent me a new set of knobs but.......... These companies and their lack of QC scare me. But you can bet your bottom dollar they will keep increasing the prices.

really? I will accept any "defective" SL2HT which is bound to be destroyed anyway. :ROTF:

so the completed warranty card was still in the case with the returned guitar and was sent along with the recycled defective guitar to the new buyer? :ROTF: omg that's f'g classic.
