Same BS as another well known guitar company. I have a new Silverburst SG on the way to me, I wonder what issues it will have? I got a decent deal on it and they all seem to be selling for more then I payed on ebay so i guess it could be flipped. I have never had an SG before mostly because of the tuning issues associated with those crappy Kluson tuners. Since this Silverburst comes with Grovers I am hoping the tuning will be better.

To address a couple of posts:
1. Standard LE...decent guitar just as decent as any other Standard (Limited or not). I thought they were going to be limited runs...but no. Truth be told, your money is better spent on a LP Custom. $2500 MAP price is a joke!
2. Ugh....the description I wrote of the Wichita Band/EM Sucks event is the short story. I actually worked a deal with them to buy a total of 4 Les Pauls. Long story short, after they f'd me the first time I cancelled the others and they tried to pocket the rest of my deposit fundage. I had to file police reports with Segwick county and Wichita Police to get my money back.
My opinion of Gibson...they don't freakin care! They figure...you could be the judge if the guitar in your hand sucks or not. I'm convinced, most people that buy a Gibson only know the marketing & PR. Let's face it they advertise on TV during the American Idol! The average slub doesn't know bad fretwork, bad binding, suck-ass tone, bad nut work, poorly cut bridgework, poorly mounted bridges, two piece body pimpjob, warped neck. Look at the factory setup? The strings are 1" off the board! Not everyone is bad but waaay too many are.If a tree falls in the forest...yadda yadda. Gibson motto; If the guitar's is a pig and the customer don't know it, is it really a pig? Damn right it is.
I'll do what ever I can to help out the dude that has that guitar. Not only was it a lemon, but they told him (and me) they were handpicking "new" guitars!Last edited by Jeff Albertson; 04-04-2007, 09:26 PM.

Wow, I ordered a Jazzmaster and a few other things from WB back in 2001 and they were great to deal with. I believe Jon Ray was who I dealt with. I even referred some other people to them and they were very happy as well. Maybe I/we just got lucky or things have changed in the last few years.

I fucking hate gibson. For no good reason either, just the way they run the business is fucking horrible and I hate it. Its irrational, I know this, and I dont care. Every story like this just makes me realise I'm slightly less of an ass about it then I think

You wanna know how Gibson puts the string slots on a Tuneomatic bridge?
Answer: They put strings on the guitar, eyebal the line over the saddles and then whack the strings ove the top of the saddle with a hammer. There lies your groove on the saddle and f**ked up strings that remain on the guiutar and shipped to a dealer. This is fact! Straight from the mouths of the good folks at Gibson. I used to work at a dealer.
Also, I have taken LP Customs out of the box, opened the case and pulled the guitar out only to have the Gibson certificate stuck solidly to the back of the guitar b/c the finish is still wet.
One more and I will be finished: 9 out of 10 guitars will still have the dark buffing compound all over the guitar and in the cracks and crevesses.
Think before you spend the bucks on a new Gibson. Buy a nice older used one.

I know exactly what they'll do. Something sorta similar happened to me around 2001 or so. I had a f'd up Gothic Explorer, it looked like they forgot to remove the bark from the wood of the body by the neck joint...horrible. It was either send it back to Musicians Friend or to Gibson. MF blew them out NEW for $400...those days are gone! I figured okay fine back to Gibson it goes. They send you a call tag, receive it and then "inspect it" and then get back to you. The whole process takes about 30-40 days. Just long enough for the return period at the dealer to be expired. Then give you a verdict. It's either, sorry bub it's fine OR you're right. If it's "you're right" they offer to fix it or replace it (nothing new there). In most cases they offer an excuse like "one of our shippers water damaged some guitars and we couldn't track them"
In the case of my Explorer, they replaced it with the same model with a broken headstock, which appearantly was the last one they had and then an Explorer Pro, which looked like complete ASS. But since it was retailing for $1200 at the time I kept it. I sold it and bought a regular Explorer, pocketed a few bucks for my trouble.
They also have "Blues Preacher Global Customer Service Guy" call you up and read you the "we love Gibson customers sooo much" script. About that time I thought we were good old boy.
I had no idea that they were pulling crap like this. Sionce the Explorer expisode, I have had them replace 2 guitars for me...which all started as ligitimate defectoids.
When I got that e-mail from the guy. I was like "this is a fuking joke?" Appearantly he threatened to sue them and they're sending him a Custom or a Slash or something to make up for the "mix up". Sucks to get causght but something tells me they have one hell of a slush fund in Nashville if there recycling turds as NEW. I'll try to post the e-mail this weekend.
