ID this guitar (horrifying guitar pics)

hey people...
back in my home country (israel), my friend found something very interesting hiding in some back ally of a street ...















yep.. condition is pretty bad
any chance of knowing what is this thing? it has no logo on headstock and no serial numbers anywhere

and whats up with those pickups? tey look weird :s



i know that if some of you here found this guitar, you'd jump right in and restore it. howver parts there are expensive so he still doesn't know what to do with it =\

It would look nice in my fireplace. Its still cold around here. My guess is that its just one of the millions of cheap Japanese electrics that were around in the 70's.
Not too many of us around here would jump on that one (unless we were doing a jackass video)

That would be a good candidate to practice luthiering skills on. Although, looks like the nut area is a disaster!

I'm going to say Teisco. The pickups definitely look like Teisco's, and the trem looks like the ones on these Teisco's:

My first guess was Teisco as well.. also by the pickups and trem.
I saw enough of them in the 70's but there's a few differences. Teisco usually had at least a couple, even three or four on-off switches. I never have seen them with a tri laminate neck and those tuners.. let alone what looks to be a 5 way switch for the pickups. This looks like something possibly euro or russian made. If it was MIJ, it would likely indicate as such on the neck plate.

If its like 20 bucks and in fixable shape.. I'd buy it. The value on these things are going up alot.

EKO is my guess. He's correct, the neck plate would have MIJ stamped into it. My vintage Aria of this style is in getting a Kahler, or else I would post a pic.

Guitars like this are starting to push the $500, in primo condition in Japan.

We had a similar guitar in our rehearsal place ... It was made in Russia, if I'm not mistaken. The pickups look pretty identical, bridge was the same - it also had those "baroque" plastic tuners. The only difference is that your guitar is strat-bodied and our is LP.

It also had at least 4 toggle switches (wiring must be screwed up because all you can hear are cracks) and 4 pots.
