anyone play one of the the new RG neck threw ibanez

I played one at GC and I was blowen away. Finally an ibanez that played good, and sounded good. And I could of had it for $700

you know I am not sure what it has for a neck, I am not that familiar with ibanez. MSRP on the axe was $1,000 i think retail was $850 or so, but my friend runs the store so I get insane deals somtimes.

ok well now that I look at this its a 5 pc wizard ii neck. But I think it felt pretty good.

Nope. $700 for a Korean Ibanez. Seems like only the real high end stuff is made in Japan anymore. Prestiges have moved to Korea as well. Sigh... At least the Koreans seem to be coming around to making decent guitars. Took what 30 years???

Ever since Ibanez switched from the Edge to the Edge Pro they lost my business. The Edge trem is IMHO the best trem out there. Edge Pros, not so much...

Are there actually Prestige RG's being made in Korea now ??? I picked up a brand new 2007 RG at a local music store the other day and was really disappointed in it's quality. It really looked and felt Korean to me. I checked the back of the neck and it said MIJ but it just didn't have the quality I've come to expect from Japanese RG's.

There are Prestige's made in Korea. As for which ones, I don't know. I'm out of the loop with Ibanez and have been since the Edge Pro switch...

Most of the "lower" series, such as the SA and SZ series have been MIK Prestige for at least a year or two now, IIRC. Not sure about the RGs.

Anoy of the "RG Prestige" series for under a grand are made in Korea. he necks are nice but not quite the feel of the MIJ necks. The RGT stuff is pretty cool. It seems Ibanez has stepped it up a bit in the QC area on the lower end stuff. And have addressed some end consumer complaints and concerns. That zero resistance teewm is kinda cool too. But it aint no Floyd..

I've played on that guitar. Before I ventured the world of Jacksons I was looking for a neck-thru Ibanez with a hard-tail bridge. I would have got the RGT had it not been for THAT bridge. Other than that, the wizard neck plays amazing and its a very good guitar. I did not know that there are any prestige guitars manufactured in Korea because the prestige necks are supposed to be strictly supposed to be made in Japan.

Correct. The Fugijen factory in Japan will stop making all guitars soon, which includes Japanese Fenders. I would imagine that Hoshino is looking for another factory where they can move their operation before moving to Korea. This is why they started stamping "J Craft" on the back of the MIJ guitars in 2005 instead of just using the "F" designation in the serial number.

RG Prestige are still MIJ (includes J Customs, Jem, JS)
SZ, SA and S Prestige are MIK
Artcore Custom are MIC

The necks on the Korean neckthru RGs I've tried have been quite nice. A bit Jackson-like, actually, and very unlike the old Wizard necks.

I especially wonder where the J customs would go, I don't care much for the lower end prestige series as much, but J customs are some of the best guitars out there...

ok, looks like I've found myself in the company of Ibanez experts. Can anyone suggest me an Ibanez with

a) Mahogany body with thru/set neck. A quilt top is a definite plus
b) rosewood fingerboard with Jumbo frets (22 or 24 I dont care)
c) most importantly, a hardtail. Not the fender type but any other like the gibraltar III is fine.
d) price less than $1500.
e) H/H combination
f) Inlays need to be present. Dots or shark tooth.

Well, if you search their site you'll find a couple. The MBM1 is one that has what your looking for. Also the SZ line has those specs. The SZ4020FM is quite nice...
