  • PRS Private Stock guitars

    Hello

I was going through PRS's website out of curiosity and noticed the "private stock" guitars. Is this some kind of a "custom shop" or is it more like the Gibson "historic" or something? I mean, you can't fill out a form online, bummer.

Anybody know about the price on these? Like, an average price? Are we talking super expensive (7 - 10 k) or maybe 4 - 6 K ?

Looking at some pics, they do look good, made me curious.

My understanding is that for the price of a shitbox used car, they used to build anything you want. Now, for the price of a really nice used car, they'll build you the basically the same thing as they're production model...but they give you a kewl piece of paper saying you bent over and let them rape you with the headstock.

Fancy woods, fancy lizard inlays, etc. = $$$ with no humanly noticeable tonal diffrences over standard production pieces, which by the way are outstanding.
Private Stock is a way for the "collectors" to show off what they can spend on guitars and demonstrate their inferior penile stock while struggling to learn a major scale.

Tonally certainly no difference. Physically, options galore that arent available via a standard model. They even play all the scales and progressions for you.

You beat Ron by ___ that much. $8,000+ for a new guitar seems a bit much. If I want a snakeskin guitar, I will just buy a pair of cowboy boots and skin the bastards.

I have to say, I've been more than thrilled with every "regular production" USA made Paul Reed Smith guitar that I've had the pleasure of playing. Matter of fact, I ordered a couple new '07 SC's, sight unseen. You could get a fine fine guitar from them for $1800-$3000. I wouldn't even consider that with Gibson, C/J or Fender, at any price. These days, you order it, you own it 110% with no turning back. PRS is a good gamble. My experience is that they sweat the details on every USA made guitar.
