Heres my PRS. Not quite what you were expecting...

As some of you know, Jim was using PRS for the first Stone Sour tour and Slipknots "Iowa" tour. I had always wanted one of his PRS's. So one day I call him up and tell him I want to trade a 1982 Gibson ES-335 for one of his guitars. He's down so I go over to pick one. He sold most of his PRS's to The Hard Rock Cafe so he only had a couple left. This was one of them. Interesting story on these. He had been starting to move away from Jackson so he bought a normal Standard at a guitar shop here in town. He liked them so he had them build him a few. They asked him what he wanted and he said the usual, set neck, 24 frets, moon inlays. They asked what he wanted the fretboard made of. He said Ebony. They said, "No. You don't want ebony. You want Brazillian Rosewood." Jim said "OK". They also made the bodies and necks out of Private Stock Mahogany. Picked for their tonal properties. This is the best sounding guitar I have, hands down. Plays and sounds the best...

Best bridge ever on a PRS too. I don't know why they don't use that bridge more often...

I was only able to find 1 video of Jim using this guitar. It's from SummerSonic when Slipknot was on the "Iowa" tour. I found a video of "People=Shit" and he's playing this bad boy. Wish I could hear Jim in the video...

    Great story, great guitar!

I take it you obviously know Jim or something? Or did you just look him up in the phonebook? LOL

Any PRS is a good PRS, but the EMGs just look outta place.
I love EMGs too but on a PRS they just look off IMO.

I've played a few PRS and every one of them played like a dream so I'm sure you'll have fun wearing the frets down.
Currently at 78 guitars - Paul Reed Smith, Jackson, Robin, Washburn, Carvin, Peavey, U.S. Masters, G&L, Hamer, Godin, BC Rich, Yamaha, Fender, ESP, Kramer, Cort, Ibanez, Aria Pro & Charvel

Is that the one that has "Jim is a fag" written in the p/u or control cavity? I seem to remember hearing that story about one of his PRS guitars.

              +1

I don't hate EMGs, but when I hear that a guitar was made out of holy private stock lumber, I don't expect to see 'em.

              Great guitar and story. Congrats!

Wha? Never heard that one. Give it up... What's the story???

I don't know what's written in the routes, never took out the pickups...

As for the EMG's, I think they look kick ass in this guitar. Seeing as they came stock with them, I don't think I'd ever swap them out. Would be interesting to see what passive pickups would sound like in there...

That's as cool as you like! Jim Root is seriously under-rated - Stone Sour are great live. PRS's rock as well. Great story, great guitar!
Wal - Good from far, but far from good

Sweet! What you want to do is put the 85 in the bridge and the 81 in the neck.

                        Great control layout. All business.

Are you talking about the one with "ROOT" inlayed over the 12th fret? Nope... That's the one I wanted when I went over there. Didn't know the story behind it though. I won't go into it but to answer the question, no he doesn't have it. It's a bit of a sore spot to him...

                            Toejam,
Why did I have a feeling you were going to say that?

The one I remember was a string through and a 'name' inlay running up the neck, not just at the 12th.....
