  • ESP Les Paul copies

    Hey guys,
The guitarist in my band is really wanting an ESP Les Paul type guitar, could anyone give him any pointers or any models to avoid? Bear in mind that we're in the UK, so go off list prices, not used prices!!!
    Thanks

    James

I played an ESP Eclipse II and frankly put, not only did it look stunning, it played and sounded stunning. However at around $1600 USD street (Sorry I don't know the list), it may be out of his price range.

esp pretty good about not making duds. a 400 series or better should suit him nicely.
"slappy, slappy" bill sings, happily, as he dick slaps random people on the streets of Cleveland.

Thanks, thats great guys! Id already warned him to stay clear of the 50-100 series guitars
The Willie Adler model kinda reminded him how much he wanted an ESP Eclipse.

Also look into the ESP/Edwards if he looking for a more traditional styled LP. http://www.espguitars.co.jp/edwards/...-LP-98LTC.html http://www.espguitars.co.jp/edwards/...-LP-98LTS.html http://www.espguitars.co.jp/edwards/...E-LP-92SD.html http://www.espguitars.co.jp/edwards/...E-LP-92CD.html

You can't go wrong with the real ESP Eclipse series. I own one and I've played another in store. They both played great and quality/feel was very consistent between the two. I consider it a slightly modern take on the traditional Les Paul - a little thinner, with a faster feeling neck. Lighter than a real Les Paul if that's an issue for you. I don't have any experience with the LTD series, so I can't help you there.

If you are looking for something more like a traditional/accurate Les Paul, follow Model 88's advice and look at the Edwards line. I just picked one up and I haven't spent enough time yet to do a full review, but its much heavier and has a thicker neck than my Eclipse II. They are also made in Japan, so quality is high.
