Thanks, yeah it is deep tigers eye. I also ordered it with a birdseye board and hs overlay, tung oil neck, 14" radius and ss frets.

Yeah thats the one. The biggest difference between the 2 to me is the PRS set up about the same is double the price. And I dont think PRS would have let me choose the options I wanted.

Thats a real nice guitar, Carvins are cool, you guys need to check out their site, not only for guitars but they sell some nice maple/ebony necks as well at a pretty damn good price

Sure, I agree. But, as a personal preference which maybe will sound kinda dumb, I prefer to get the "original" shapes in the original brands. Like, If I want an explorer shape, I'd get a Gibson Explorer. Or, if I want a RR shape, I'd get a Jackson.

From Carvin, I like the DC400 Neckthrough active guitar. It "looks" like a strat but it adds some very original things that will make you look at it and say "oh, it's a Carvin".

I would generally agree but while it does look very similar and was obviously designed to get a pice of their market, it's not a copy. And to me I like the ct body shape better. AFWIW I had a CT before and took it to my friends who works at Ernie Ball and sets up guitars for lots of their artists and when compared to his 2 PRS a Custom and a McCarty the CT6 was easily their equal. And these are owned by a guy who works on Petrucci, Vinnie Moore, and Morses guitars Then when you consider that a Custom 22 with a lame top goes for 3 grand anda Carvin spec'd how I want was 1600 there was no comparison in my mind. The 1400 you save will buy a killer amp, or another guitar or whatever. To me the PRS name is not worth 1400 bucks.

Definately. But, like I said (call me dumb) If I get, say, a Hamer Explorer or an ESP Les Paul, which they are all different and maybe better, I'll always have that "feeling" that it's not the original thing. I don't care about what people say, but most people will say "oh, it's a PRS! Oh no, wait a minute... it's another PRS clone...". Ever heard that? It's annoying and it's stupid, but it can get on my nerves. It has even actually happened to me... when I see someguy with a Les Paul Custom and from the distance I say "nice, it's a Les Paul Custom" but when I come close it's some Hoffner copy or whatever. It's not the same case because we're talking about instruments with the SAME qualities and features and tone, but it can happen. That's why I choose the original shapes in their original brands.

That DC400 looks original to me, I'd go with that if I were gettin' a Carvin. Seems really nice.

Great stuff!! I like abalone dots on a maple board I wish Carvin would allow MOP Blocks on a maple board, I don`t get why they won`t do that, but they will on ebony and rosewood? Jack.
