He did had some good points though, like, 24 fretted necks and neck through body construcion and some stuff like that should be added to PRS, if you compared a PRS guitar to a Jackson USA he said that the Jackson was way superior... or something.
It seems to me that Ed does this when a maker revokes his authorized dealership standing with them...

exactly PRS revoked ED's dealership when they found out he was making fake PRS and selling them as " originals"..

add in the fact that Ed no longer had access to new PRS and had a warehouse full of the old models...naturally he down talks the newer models so he can get more money for the his old ones

Ed's done it to pretty much every good builder he's had at one point ....as soon as they don't want to have him as their exclusive dealer or they don't want to switch there whole building process to appease him..there no good anymore

          Driskill, Mcnaught, Melancon, McInturff.Heritage, Anderson,PRS..
all dumped ED the first chance they got

I played this HBII for about 3 months in my band and finally sold it - it just didn't cut through the mix, no matter what amp I used.

It's all about the pick-ups. Thunk a set of Duncans in there and things will turn around.

i've had several "lower end" prs guitars and they were hit or miss.

the best sounding one believe it or not was the older, pre-move ce-24.
it sounded great, but didn't play that great. I think the older one piece tremolo makes a big difference in sound.

the next one i had was a standard 22 which sounded and played pretty good, just not $1200 (used) good.

then i picked up a newer ce-22 which sounded like a dog. it played great, but the sound was very average for a $1k (used) plus guitar.

Some guys like 'em and some don't. I don't. Had one. It was OK.
Not really a shred guitar. Sound was OK but not great.

Tried 2 or 3 amps, an evolution pup and a Duncan Custom also as well as a Gibson Dirty Fingers pup.

They may not be the best guitars in high gain or shred style playing. For me that was the case. Didn't really care much for the 25" scale. Everything felt too cramped. No jumbo frets.

The guitar had too much of a vintage vibe for me. I am more into high performance super strats.

So I gotta agree with ya.

i really like mine. it is great for when i play smooth jazz or music with sustaining melodic guitar lines. it sucks when i play metal.
                          GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                          and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I have a McCarty model PRS and I absolutely love it. It's alot thicker and heavier sounding that my Jackson Soloist in my oppinion...

"Life of Brian" comes to mind. That stoning scene was funny. Seriously, don't pups cost like $3.00 to make? The build of the guitar and the feel can't be anything than what it is. And for $3,300 it better feel like the best fuck you have ever had.

Another one in the non-PRS camp here. I have a 92, small neck heel, bird inlays, rotary switch though not the mini toggle. While a very nice guitar something is lacking for me. Just preference I guess. It seems that it is encased in high gloss, the neck 'feel' is lacking as well. I don't believe I have seen any PRS guitar with a bound fret board and headstock either. I'll give them a bit of credit for the aesthetic, but overall playability suffers at least IMHO.

Sounds alright, a bluesy form of distortion through a Marshall, plenty of low end. I would like to alter the pickups as mentioned above, however I cannot bring myself to alter an pricey guitar like this one. I've noticed as well very few PRS guitars without black pickups, few zebra and no double creme...assumed there is some royalty which they would have to pay or something to that effect.

I almost hate to say it.....but the evil leprechaun is right about their models after about 92, 93. That neck heel is terrible and the single cuts I have tried are nothing to write home about. Some saving grace here is the limited editions from around 89 - 91 which come up for auction from time to time with a stop tail and ABR. I think this would be a good guitar, again I assume there was some royalty paid as these are rare and pricey without the tremolo.

I have played one with full Brazilian neck and it was cool, just that heel on the particular one I played. Lots of imitators on their dragon models too, unfortunately that 2000 model with the inlay on the body winds up looking like glossy barf from a distance.

All in all, stick with Jackson or Charvel gang. ESP or Gibson if you must. thx.
