Anybody have one of these new ones with the gearless tuners yet? If so, how do you like it?

The tuners have been available for many years. I bought a set off MusicYo when they only came in black, and StewMac has them in all three finishes. Tried them on my KV-Pro for a while until I decided I don't really like them. Now they're on my Fernandes Nomad.
Unless they've changed the design, they have a couple of problems.
First off, you have to torque them down pretty hard, especially on plain strings, to keep them from slipping. The installation instructions said to tighten "as hard as you can" and even suggests tinning (with solder) the plain strings. I really wouldn't suggest using these keys with a tremolo.
Second, they have a finite tuning range. The instructions say to pull each string tight before clamping it down. Which, in some cases, will get you pretty close to pitch to start with. Then when you tune up it doesn't rotate the string around a post, it pulls the string down through the keyhole until the top of the post eventually bottoms out on the headstock and you run out of tuning range. If you hadn't pulled the string tight to begin with you wouldn't be able to bring it to pitch.
Takes a standard size keyhole, though. Which also fit Sperzels and (my favorite) Planet Waves.please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking
