My Jackson Mark Morton model sure kicks ass, too! I need to find an X-ray machine and see how big those chambers really are.

Some people around here need to just put a cork in it right now or order up a super sized plate of fried crow. After the whole series of flamatoidal posts in the last Gibson thread...some street cred is on empty. I have a Cloud 9 and I'll had three others in the past. Cloud 9 route is 80% entirely different. On top of that the Cloud 9 series/ Stinger Series (and on) were all listed as "chambered" in the official specs. People knew what they were getting.
Lots of people vigorously defended Gibson, the design of the Les Paul and the integrity of the company. Now Gibson wants to tell [me] us that th old design was inferior and now this is better? Now who's the f-in moron now? I say they're completely full of shit, as opposed to 90% full of shit!
I like Les Pauls, I play them, I own 17+ of them. I'll be the first to admit that the company is entirely full of crap and the guitars costs 40% more than is justifyable.
After playing a new superior ultra chambered Les Paul for a few days now, I'll say this: They phuked up the last chunck of desirability the damn things had...they sound horrible. Now you can look forward to an overpriced, poorly constructed piece of grade C maho that sounds worse than a bad knock-off! Gee it took old Henry only 25 years to come up with an improved version and it sucks!
Gibson has no business owning the right to build a Les Paul.......none.

I liked the guitar that was marketed as chambered. The Supreme... that was a killer guitar... sniff

Anyways, they obviously use a different grade of wood for the Standards as the Reissues are almost always under 10 lbs without the holes drilled in them.

I have a '96 Cu22 PRS that is semi-hollow. It kills, but is more of a blues/rock guitar than a metal instrument. The note attack is different than my other PRS customs were. I kept it because it's unique and a great guitar, but it wouldn't be my 'go to' for some styles of music.

Hmm interesting, but there seems to be a simple solution.

Slap some EMGs in or plug into a Line 6 and no one will know whether you're playing through a weight relieved Les Paul or not.

                    There is somthing to this.
I just recently bought a Minarik Lotus. They advertise somthing to the same effect of "positioning the hollow chambers in the guitar to accentuate the correct frequencies of the guitar"
I dont know how true it is, but the guitar I just spent less than 300 dollars on sounds as good, maybe better than guitars I have costing 3-4 times as much. Extremly Big, huge, full sounding electric Guitar. I love it and cant put it down......

I'm as big of a LP fan as there is, but all these chambered variations seem like a bastardization of what a LP should really be. To me, I want that fat, beefy bark only a LP can provide, and when you start hollowing them out or doing other weird shit to them, it just changes the tonal recipe. If I want to play a chambered guitar, I'll play my 1959 ES345. Great guitar, but it doesn't sound like a Lester.

Gibson can build a good guitar when they want to, unfortunately they do not always do, and charge you up the ass for sometimes inferior products. I remember a few years back a friend and I were talking to Edwin Wilson at the CS, and showing him what was wrong with the RI's, and he acknowledged what the errors were, but did not seem like they were going to make any changes. Seems like the MO over there, just do things good enough to get by and hope nobody notices.

so if you don't dig how it plays or sounds, don't buy one. Turn the channel, etc. etc. etc.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

Yeah really....all this bitching about guitars that no one who is doing the bitching wants to buy anyway is pretty dumb....go write a song or something.

These days , anyone who wants a new Les Paul should definitely buy a Heritage. It's beyond funny, what's Gibson's into, nowadays.

And it's not like it's a very difficult DIY project...

please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking
