An Edge III might feel okay now but after 6 months or so... My friend has a RG370 which has an Edge III and he bitches everyday about how he can't even touch it without it going out of tune.Comment

There is no doubt that the OFRs machined parts will out last this potted stuff, but I'll bet you friend doesn't have it set up correctly. If a floating trem isn't perfectly parallel with the guitar it will give nothing but problems. Even if the metal was worn it would stay in tune...The intonation would just need compensation.
I have no doubts about the trem being cheaper, but they are easily replaced and if this is what they did to cut corners I’m okay with it.
