Well, if price is the real issue, then finding the right model is not the problem. For the price, I'd go with the 1527 since it's Jap made. But if I had more money, I'd look into other stuff, like maybe a used BC Rich (USA) 7 string, or stuff like that, I've heard that those rock.
+1 on the USA BC RICH 7 strings. If the shapes appeal to you.
I have 2 and they are great quality and arent really in demand so you could get one for an decent price. The only negative is they usually come with a licensed trem which may not be the best. I never do whammy stuff so I cant really judge how well they stay in tune.
