Oops! Thanks for pointing out that thread Joe.

This pic reminds me of Chucky's fate in Child's play.

i'm guessing you talking around the neck area. i tru-oiled the neck, so i had to seal the area around the paint lines. so i used epoxy glue, i forgot to mention some thanks for help. Straycat for helping me with the neck oiling. sully for his awesome tutorials, the search function and all the post that i read. And finally this board that turned my into a DIYer.

i finished this completely with minwax items, clear poly and sandable sealer.

it isn't the best job ever, but this is the first time i ever tired anything like this, and i'm proud that i finished it.

That looks great. What kind of clear poly did you use, and how long did you let it harden?

minwax, the stuff in a can, at homedepot. you only have to wait 3 or 4 hours but, i usually only got to give it a one coat a day.

I have done quite a few T-shirt and hat artwork painting in the past and was wondering if I were to paint a stock guitar and then apply this clear coat over it, would it be a useable guitar l? I dont want that "sticky" feel. Or would I need to sand down the entire finish and start from there?

well, i tell you one thing, the only reason i took it to bare wood was because i wanted the bass to be natural. i didn't want a solid color, but other than that stock paint jobs make for a really good base coat, just scotch brite the thing and paint your base coat, then your graphics and then clear.

                        thanks a bunch rhythm!
