  • Major retraction about PRS Guitars !!

You know...ya just have to get the $8K ones! If you remember
i had tried out an Artist 22 thru a JCM 800 one day for about 15 min.
Not impressed. Thin sounding... great feel...but no biggie overall.
Just didn't "Grab me".. So yesterday, my Brother in law says lets
go down to Bizarre Guitar and check out some LP's...as he says ..
"Im looking to "one up you again!" (hes been doing quite well in
    that department lately!)

So we try out a AAAAA Quilt topped LP custom for $4400... nice but
lets check out those PRS once again...(after all...does anything look better? NO!)
So we start with a Blue Matteo Artist 24.. neck feels good... solid
player... not real blown away with it's mojo though..or tone..
Then Bob says..."why dont you at least try the PRS Private Stock"
i have there..(been drooling over this one for about 8 months...but never
had the nerve to grab it...(priced at $9700.00!)
As soon as i grab it..(and my Brother in Law) we are blown away!
Singing sustain... bright..dense...a Stradivarius !! I swear its the
best guitar ive ever played or heard! I knew i was holding something
magical. Sorry for all the Exclamation points...but im that Stoked!!
Have you seen the cases for these? Works of art!
Real 24 carat inlay around the birds in the neck. The neck feels like
satin...and is creamy smooth and just does everything great. We laughed
as we both played about 20% better on this PRS! Smoother... never
missing a note..just better overall ! It kills with low end.. punches you
in the face with Midrange... and sings with sustain !
So whats a Brother in Law to say... when hes having a pissing contest
with his Bro? "Ill take it " ! My stomach sank..(although if your not going to own one yourself...at least have one in the immediate family !!)
He paid much less than $7K for it too! A smokin deal for a world class
axe imo. Its "Tigers Eye" and pics cant even get close to how great it
looks. This is one of those times, that "it plays as great as it looks"!
    I hate him!

Here he is in my bedroom... saying something smartass! What is he
saying? "I think this will sound great running through 2 ... yes 2 EVH
III' s in stereo ! He's buying 2 of them! I retorted back to him..
oh yeah...look at my $400 Ibanez USA Custom! Take that! :ROTF:
I think he's won in the GAS contest were having ...

Heres the case... its about 4" thick...and you have to squeeze
the PRS down into it. Its not moving!

            it's 2 PM here

anyway I've been droolin over some PRS's for a while... I'm not sure wich one to get... I really love the McCarty because it has a thicker body and neck but I'd love to have a tremolo bridge and 24 frets

I guess back in the mid to late 80's.. Paul Reed made every single
axe as great as he could make them. All of them were superb.
Seems in the last 10 or so years...he has different levels of quality?
Pretty brilliant marketing really to come up with the "Private Stock"
series! But i'll tell you.. ive played about 8 of these...from $2300 dots
to this Private Stock, and there is NO comparison. This PS is twice
the quality, and tone and feel' of any of the normal PRS IMO. Ive played
"Brian Moore"... Suhr... Tom Anderson.. and while all nice.. this one
beats them all. I got to play "Greatness". :-)) Whew...im all poetic

I just got to play it for another hour...and boy is that Tremelo nice!
I just keep smiling..knowing that this is the best guitar ive ever
played! I would think that some major "zen like" plateau's could occur if
left alone with this monster. It just keeps feeling better and better!
Another thing my Bro-in-law said, is that these PS's may actually save
you money down the road. Because everytime you play another $4K axe
and consider buying it...you remember the "perfection" thats at
home and say to yourself.... "Why bother"?
