  • The heaviest instruments you ever played

Let's talk about the boatanchors out there, the guitars and basses that are a Chyropractor's dream.

The heaviest guitar I owned was an early eighties Ibanez artist.

This one was only playable for a short amount of time before my shoulder really started to ache, I eventually sold it because it just wasn't possible for me to use that thing for performances.

What basses are concerned I guess the heaviest bass I ever had in my hands was a Warwick Jack Bruce Cream Reunion bass, that one actually was heavier than that Ibanez I mentioned earlier. I played it seated at the Warwick stand a couple of years ago at the Frankfurt music fair and afterwards I couldn't even feel my leg anymore.

The heaviest Bass I owned was an Aria Pro2 SB series bass, which sounded really good but really made my shoulder ache badly.

The heaviest guitar I own is my ESP V.. It's huge and made out of mahogony.. It hurts my shoulder if I play with it too long.. I'm sure there are hundreds of guitars that are heavier though.

I currently own a 1982 Gibson EDS-1275 "Doubleneck" that I refer to as "The Coffee Table." It has maple necks which makes it even heavier than the models featuring all mahogany bodies/necks.

P.S. This guitar is the absolute definition of "tone."

Jackson Roswell Rhoads, hollow or not it's definitely a boat anchor. Honorable mention to my GMP Roxies, they weigh like LPs even though they're fully chambered.

a U.S bc rich warlock is the heaviest guitar i ever played.
i think it had a 1 piece bolt on, rosewood neck.
it was a real shoulder and back killer.

I knew a guy who had a late 70s Strat which weighed about as much as a small car. It was almost like it was made of concrete. Didn't sound great either...

The heaviest guitar I´ve had was actually a Fenix strat, presumably from the mid eighties, that I had when I first started out... over ten years down the round it´s hard to estimate the weight, but for a strat it was just ridiculous. It was like it was carved from stone, and easily in serious LP territory.

les paul custom from the 70's. Can't remember the exact year. My ke-3, from 1995 or 1996 I believe, is also very heavy, easily the heaviest jackson I have owned. Nice chunky tone!
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

Never owned really heavy guitars, just because I would never buy such axe (well, probably I would in an unlikey situation if it would have an outstanding tone and very low price). But I've encountered quiet few extremely heavy guitars. Like 70's hard ash Strats, some all-maple body Hamers and B.C. Richs.

The heaviest probably was Fender all-metal body resonator guitar )))))))))))
                        Because I don't say it
                        Doesn't mean I ain't thinking it

This one is easy. I had an early 80's Silverburst Les Paul Custom that was the heaviest guitar I've ever felt...it was riduculous. It seemed to have a slightly larger body than normal as well...it would not fit in the case of a black '71 LP Custom that I had at the same time.
