If your wanting something new I'd also suggest a CARVIN.

If your willing to do some research and have some patience there are always great bargains to be had in the used market (Ebay, Craigslist).

Zion, Godin, Hamer, and Robin to name a few.
Currently at 78 guitars - Paul Reed Smith, Jackson, Robin, Washburn, Carvin, Peavey, U.S. Masters, G&L, Hamer, Godin, BC Rich, Yamaha, Fender, ESP, Kramer, Cort, Ibanez, Aria Pro & Charvel

If you like your DK2M, you'd love a used USA DK1.

Or for something different, consider one of the new 24-fret RR Vs, or an Ibanez RG550 reissue.

I'm considering a Jackson DKMG...I played one at my local GC recently and was blown away with the feel. The EMG's were screaming also.

There, there guys..... You get what you pay for, I am a shop owner, I do guitar repairs everyday, and I have to say.... I always have the cheap guitars to work on.... Always! I rarely get a nice guitar in for repairs! I would stay Jackson, Charvel, ESP or even a Dean, but you should play them before buying.

Hmm. Well, any guitar that sees some use is gonna need a setup now and then. If we're talking "repairs" as in shitty electronics and bad fretwork, that's another story.

I think you can get a good guitar for a reasonable price, especially with old Charvels. I'm not a big believer that anybody needs to spend a metric ton of cash to get a good, giggable guitar. But everybody has their priorities and price thresholds!

Also, I'd bet that the people buying cheap guitars don't know how to fix them. The people buying $700+ guitars can do it themselves.

Nothing can realy compliment a Jackson as a second guitar like another Jackson.
