Jackson or Moser custom shops are as good as it gets when it comes to shred style guitars period. Playability, tone, craftsmanship etc... You won't find a better guitar anywhere and these will cost about $4K or less.
************ Then (and i agree with your post..) you would
have to add the custom shop Carvin to this also...as they are easily
equal to a PC-1 anyway...and priced about the same.

I'd either get an ESP Custom or find a BC Rich USA ST with the craziest paint job I could find.

A Suzuki GSX-R is sort of a guitar, right? That's definitely what I'd spend my 8 grand on.

yeah or you can spend the money on alot of expensive wood options. my dream guitar has always been Joe Perry's brazillian rosewood shorty mockingbird supreme. Solid brazillian rosewood is a serious up charge & given the fact its scarce & no longer legal to harvest its an investment as well. same thing with KOA tho its not as pricey

                                I've got a few candidates...

                                Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani signature
                                Gibson Goldtop Re-issue
A Cream-coloured Fender Stratocaster with a 22 fret-maple fretboard. Make it H-S-S, put on a Floyd Rose and maybe upgrade the pickups.
                                Schecter Jeff Loomis FR signature
                                Ibanez RG570
                                Ibanez RG1570 Prestige
                                Adrian Smith fanboy
