From what I heard he doesn't have much choice in the fact that he has to close up and get the fuck out of Dodge.
I suppose if you rip enough people off, eventually you'll cross the wrong kind of person who will not take kindly to finding out their dollars have been spent unwisely. I think karma is doing it's job here.

Please, people, don't buy anything from Ed Roman. He has a shop where he builds and logoes fakes of real guitars. Those "J Frogs" are ones HE built, not J Frog himself. Many of the BC Riches he's sold were not made by BCR, but in Ed Roman's shop. Ask around the BC Rich forum - those guys have dealt with his antics for years until they finally found out what he was doing (i.e. building knockoffs of major brands).

This is not a case of "GMW made my Jackson" vs "My Jackson was made at the Jackson facility where Mike Shannon works", this is a case of "I ordered my custom BCR through Ed Roman but when I had a warranty issue, BCR had no record of the order being placed, and stated Ed Roman was not an authorized BCR Custom Shop"

I wouldn't buy picks from the guy - he probably makes them himself out of stolen credit cards.

I've heard that about his BC Rich's. Anyone know if he has built Jacksons too?

I went in there last year and when you got in the back of the store you could hear the pin routers and sanders when they opened the door. He had some Kramers that looked like fakes to me.

Unfortunately, a lot of people took him at his word (and worse, on advice from "this guy I know" or "some guy online") that he was an authorized custom shop for several manufacturers, especialy BC Rich since he used to own it during the 80's Class Act era.

Therefore, you end up with a lot of people who just don't know, and they blame the brand name for the poor quality.

Everybody knows that Ed Roman Is a Con-artist, he has always made replicas and will continue to do so in the future when he opens his new store! He will keep doing it as long as people keep giving him thousands of dollars for his home made stuff, than he will continue to make it at a 500% profit. Counterfit guitars is big business, that's why you also have to pay close attn on eBay, You may think your buying a nice Kramer or BC Rich and it could be an Ed Roman build!

Ed Roman never owned BC Rich at any point in time. There's speculation (I have yet to have anything proved to me on this) that he might have built BCRs *with* BCRs consent. There's also speculation that the BC South shop does the wood work for his guitars as well as BCRs and Rico Jr's.

On various incarnations of the BCR forum many people asked BCR about Ed and his fakes and the answer was usually Ed is a dealer of ours blah blah blah. They never address him making knockoffs.

He bought the remaining rough cutt BCR body blanks when Rico or Class Axe sold it off in the late 80's or early 90's when they went under. Those were then built & stored in the east Coast Music mall building for years
