  • He SCORES !!!!!!!!! And they say...

there arent any deals at Sam Ash? (well they dont say that, but hear
me out!) Walked into Sam Ash today... just browsing...and i go down
to the "Import Wall"...(mostly everything from $350 to $800...and all
of a sudden my eye catches this Carvin. DC200...used..$799 But oh...
Set neck...Claro Walnut... Piezo pup... and Stereo !! Or am i wrong..and
its just a Piezo out....along with the Active too? Is this an Active/Passive combo? Its got so many tones...its going to take me
3 months to figure them out. Lets see if i can post pics now..last time
i screwed it all up.. But im a happy camper, as i know this cost some guy
around $1900.00 from Carvin..maybe more? Its in mint condition with
Carvin case.. String thru...tremelo... Super dense ebony board...and
the neck feels exactly like my brother in laws Private Stock! Its a heavy
    beast too...maybe 18 lbs?

                Nice... It looks like a neck-thru, not a set-neck.

Cavin made set-necks in the 80's and before. I think it was the late 80's when they switched to neck-thru construction.

Yeah...sorry its a neck thru.. its just that i can see a thin line of
where they matched the walnut back into the heel of the neck.
So i assumed it might be "Set"...but now i see the 3 striped wood
running completely thru the body. Man is this thing sweet!
Anyone know about this Fishman system? Thats what is stamped
on the floating trem, and i think it may be the electronics also.

                          This is an 05' Carvin.

Nice guitar. That would have run around $1200.00 direct from Carvin. Maybe a little less back in 2005. If it was in the "in stock" section it might have been around $1100.00
$799.00 is a decent price but not a steal. In any case... its a damn fine guitar. Carvin makes great guitars.

With Carvin's regular active electronics like that, it's volume, tone (with the volume control in the up position), push the volume pot down to go into active mode which bypasses the regular tone control, then the other two knobs will be for active treble and bass boost/cut.

With the Fishman, you've got your volume, then your pan control for blending between the humbuckers and the acoustic Fishman bridge pickups (the saddles have little pickups in them), the other two knobs are for your active humbucking tone and active acoustic tone.

And, of course, the little switches are for coil splitting on the bridge and neck humbucker. The other switch is the phase reversal (this works only when the two humbuckers are on together in the middle position).
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
