thats cool, as a BCR guy im always a bit weary of stuff Ed's selling. i know most of his "vintage" BCRichs are replicas & the body blanks he used to advertise were made by him not BCR. I know back in the ECMM days he had a couple of Rands but i didnt know & still dont know enough about them to know if they were real or replicas.

The ECMM stuff was all real (Rands), whereas alot of the BCR's at that time were copies. He did buy alot of body blanks at the time of the Class Axe buyout but he built alot of fakes as well, and not just BCR's. Anyone remember that trans-green Kelly with the BCR-like laminated body/neck? A beautiful guitar but a complete fake.

AARRGGGHH!!! Rupe, you've got like the best guitars in the WORLD!!!!! Not just these RAND's either.

I have a camera pic of the pink RAND from about a year before you got it. The guy had two hanging in a section of the store titled "NOT FOR SALE". There's a yelow one right next to it in the pic.

I wonder who got the yellow one??? (insert sarcastic tone)

Rupe I am always impressed with your guitars.
I think you will end up with all of the Rands.

                There's only one guitar cooler than a RAND . . . . . .

Nope. He had his chance with mine, but blew it

Yeah, that was just bad timing. I was short on funds and didn't want to low-ball you. When I had some disposable cash again, the pink and yellow were offered to me and I've been after those two since the early 90's. Someday we'll talk again I know its in good hands

What's he asking for it now? I gave up on that one about 3 years ago.

                          Those are incredible looking guitars.
                          What are the necks like?

                            Rupe,
It was more than my buget over $3000.00 but I can't exactly remember the price as it was a long week in LV and I was drinking like a 25 year old.

I would consider it If I had the buget as it was very clean.

                            Cygnus,
The Rand felt similar to a Kramer but way better. The frets were kind of small but no dead spots. I played it longer than any other guitar in the store.

The production models have smaller C shaped necks and the frets are on the small side. The neck is very comfortable and extremely fast...but not skinny like an Ibanez Jem or Wizard neck. I would compare it to Gibson's slim taper or a Tom Anderson Even-Taper neck but it's really its own thing. The only one that differs a bit is the yellow one which has a slightly fuller, more rounded feel and jumbo frets.

The two preproduction models that I have are quite different. The blue one is a bit "meatier" and feels very much like an early Soloist, whereas the Vivian Campbell one has a wide and flat D shape with a very flat radius.

I was just on Ed's sight and apperently the asking price is $4995 and it has a refrence to Viv.
Well as I said out of my buget for now!
