  • GAS for a Laiho.

Well, today I found myself in my local store and the clerk goes: "Dude, I know you're not really into Flying V's but you've got to check this out!" Before handing me one of these...

Now I know from owning LTD guitars that they are killer value for money. So I take it with me for a test in the amps room. I plug it into a Boogie and start shredding. This guitar feels amazing and it sounds really tight. Those speedy rythm parts from bands like Megadeth are a breeze and the guitar never even had one single squeel no matter how loud I turned the amp up.

After shredding away on this guitar for a while I notice movement around me. When I looked up there were these teenagers looking at me in awe. Here's this 30 someting with a gut playing that cool stuff on an even cooler guitar.

However, the price of this thing kept me from buying it off the bat. But there will come a day that I will own one.

Granted those are pretty nice guitars, however I think over here they are not that good a value for the money.

I tried one at a store tagged at 1400 euros, which is just the amount I paid overall for my JacksonStars semicustom Rhoads.

I am probably biased but IMO the LTD didn't come close to this Rhoads, especially in terms of sound. Which is the main area I found all LTDs I tried to be lacking.

I guess I should've known better than to post this on the JCF. The fact however remains that the particullar Laiho I played has the "Magic Something" that got my MOJO going as soon as I picked it up.

And NO the RR24 is NOT the same deal. For example it doesn't have that nice fat neck profile of the Laiho and I love the simple set up of only one pickup and a master volume.

And you say that "Randy Rhoads" doesn't sound like gay porn actor name? I mean "Randy" "Oh yeah, how Randy do you wanna have it?"

LTDs are fantastic man...if you liked it then it is for you. I have a bunch of LTDs and I love them...they stand up to pretty much anything. Great quality.
My Duncan Designed pickups are way better than Seymour Duncan regular pickups you fanboy.

Yeah...too bad the forum doesn't have a minimum IQ.

Oddly enough I kinda like the new pink version as I love crazy obnoxious colors. Now if it were neon green inlays/bevels. I'd be all over it.

Still out of all the V shapes I love the Xtrr the most.

But anywhoo if you dig it, cool then go for it. Nothing wrong with alittle variety in the collection. Theres plenty of quality gettahs out there.

whenever I look at the esp/ltd Jackson look-alike headstock, it just seems so wrong! ...and then I look at a jackson pointy and I am all happy again.

I sold my Laiho a few weeks ago on the evilbay. Stole my from a local pawn for 279.00 Had some chipped wings and a dinged headstock.

I think for the price the cheezy pickup was pathetic...

Not my cup o tea ill stick with Jackson

The newer esp mirage headstock as featerd on te kh 2 mirages, and the alexis is nto a jackson look alike it has more in common with the old bcr pointy which is similar but has a rounded part on it, tbh I think its cool...

the older jackson alike head was fugly looked too big...

If you like the alexi good, I dont think they are bad gutiars not for the price, the RR24's are also good if you prefer the original shape....
