My San Francisco trip was a success, because I came home with the black 1985 ibanez Roadstar there, purchased at a store called Real Guitars. If you're ever in San Francisco I would recommend checking this shop out, its only used gear so there are lots of cool and unusual things you won't find at Guitar Center or elsewhere (although trying the 5150III at guitar center was awesome!).
I also got another Ibanez at a more local guitar shop (Jensens in Santa Barbara), its a RG520 from 2000 and has a mahogony back, which I like alot, other than that it has the usual RG appointments like a wizard neck and an edge trem. It's missing the locknuts but the store ordered some for me.
I think having multiple guitars makes you appreciate them more, because when you switch from one to the other they feel different, so they feel newer because you were used to one guitar for a while. I think you know what I mean.
