I hear they are "Rare" but having come across 2 in the last 10 weeks
make me wonder if im going to have a chance to pick up another one
this year? Or never see another RG20 again? (1994 only year made
Zero tension neck, 2 HB AAA top) I showed my blue one a couple months
ago, thinking it was a bargain at $400 (and now i know that it is!)
But this weekend ive been in touch with a guy who has a Koa topped
RG20! Got to inspect it today...and its been gigged with, so it had 4 or
5 dents, 3 or 4 3/8" nicks in the back of the neck, and the 5 way selector
switch was missing the black plastic end piece, and the brass bow" in the
back of the neck at the headstock had quite a "Gap" in it, between the
locking nut, and the top brass piece. Also it looked like the veneer "Black"
headstock was split somewhat along the top edge, like it might be separating?
And 2 of the case lock down swivels were missing entirely! Only 1
near the headstock could keep the case closed! At $750 i passed.
Did i do the right thing? My blue one is a string thru...(which gives
it ton's o' sustain) and this was a "licensed by Floyd Rose" 94' trem...
(which i seem to remember reading were NOT that good?
I kept thinking..."i have a better one at home, that i paid $400
for, so why am i considering paying $350 more for one with a better looking top, but in `1/2 the condition"? What would you have done?
Rarebility factor quite high, as there may be only 15 of these in
this Koa top. But im a cosmetic Whore, and wont own anything that
is not "near mint". Your thoughts on my "No Sale" ?
