A co-worker got one of the Ibanez swirls and I saw it briefly in person. I think the pickup is molded in swirl, not painted.

Robert, do they looked molded in swirl or painted to you?
A buddy of mine scored one too. I looked at it very quickly. I just figured they were painted since they kinda match the flow of the swirl. But it doesn't look exact like they would if the pickups were in it when swirled so they may be molded like that. If they are, that's sweet...

Since Darren from ATD went off the deep end, I'd really like to know how to do this. Herc Fede does a good job, I like his swirls but damn, can it get pricey. I do have a RG or 2 I would like to have swirled though...
    I'm angry because you're stupid

          Robert,
Cool! I assumed they were painted. But that makes those even cooler. Nevermind my comment about switching out the pickups. If you dig them, leave them in there...

Wouldn't it be cool if DiMarzio started offering these in different color combos? Of course they wouldn't be for everyone but I'd kill for a White/Black/Orange set...

            love that graphic!

wish it had an ebony board.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Great idea...imagine having about 5 color combinations to choose from?
DiMarzio would sell allot more Pups!

If you look closely...you can see that pups dont really match the direction
of the way the body swirl is going. So they are mismatched, but close.
Which leads me to believe that they are moulded in when they are made'
and then the assembler picked from a box, on which were close to a match when installing them.

ibanez's are pretty cool. I own a Jem7vwh, RBM10BK (Reb Beach sig) and an old school RG770DX as a backup. very different necks, flat but takes some getting used to. My RR1 has taken over as my main guitar, just feels a lot more comfortable to me.
