I noticed the rout for the Floyd looks really big (extra long)! Is it necessary from how it operates?

It doesn't need to be that long, but it is also deep which it needs to be. The route's deep like a the route for an Ibanez Edge. The saddles are taller than a standard floyd so the trem sits a little lower.

$149 is about £75 - I spend more than that on an afternon drinking session!!! If only they were that price in the UK...

For a couple of days they had the DSOT - $149. Basically, it is the same model but with an Original Floyd. Too bad, I was leaving for vacation the same day an couldn't afford to get another. For $149, that's like buying a used Floyd and getting a free guitar. When I got back from vacation there were back to $299.
