  • Strange guitar acquired ...

I just got this odd Ibanez guitar. Any information on it ???

Not bad for a garage sale find ... I guess ....

Not bad at all my friend. Those are quite rare...

It's a 540P. Most associated with Alex Skolnick of Testament. Rather rare actually. I think Alex wanted Ibanez to take a RG and flip it upside down. That's where these came from. Very cool and did I mention rare?

Here are some scans from the 1989 and 1990 catalogues.

Does look like the pickups have been changed...

OK, I have to ask and you have to answer. What did you pay for it???

PS: I get first dibs if you decide to sell it... Please??? Pretty please??? I'm done groveling...

You stole my punchline Pebber !!!

I thought everyone knew that. I've pulled this same stunt a few times, so this is my kinda humor.

I actually only have one now, this black one. I sold my White 540P-SH, the Purple Neon 540P-SH & the Desert Yellow 540P-HH. So this is my only one at the moment.

Bengal, sorry to pull your leg. The pups are original, just has the white print worn a bit. It plays wonderfully and the sound is excellent.

You may PM me or e-mail to discuss more about it if you'd like.

What? Am I supposed to read every thread here?

          No, I didn't...

Last time I try to help this guy...

(Kidding here. I'll still try to help anyone. May do more harm than good but what else do I have to do?)

Jokes on me! But I'm watching you Paul...

Your sense of humor is very disturbing. I like it! (especially in threads where I'm not the "sucker"). :ROTF:

                Skolnick, Pebber and Heartfielder.

                  Done that !!!

In fact I sold my Purple Neon 540P-SH to a guy from there. He happens to live in Indonesia. Deal went very well.

                  I still don't know anyone who's owned 4 of them !!!

The P series shape always reminded me of those old Mosrite guitars.

And those old mosrites were copied by Ibanez back in the day so I wouldn't be surprised if the P series were a wink to those.

Yeah, but I always like the Mosrites, better.

Skolnick's Practice What You Preach graphic 540 was killer.
