Larrivee 80's guitar

I went into the local guitar shop today to check out if they had gotten some new stuff and noticed they had a used Larrivee guitar. It had a sticker on the back of the headstock that said Canada something. I can't remember exactly what but it wasn't "made in...". It was white, 24 frets, neck through, humbucker-single-single, licensed locking trem that said "Larrivee". Looked pretty banged up but cost about the same as a new Squier.

What I'd like to know is whether this guitar was made in Canada or not. In that case I'll have to consider picking it up and use as a "Frankenstein-guitar"

Any idea about the trem? Decent or not?
I'm really looking for a Charvel model 6 or 650 XL but this Larrivee wasn't half bad looking.

to be honest i have no idea...i know they were expensive new, i played one at a guitar show years ago and couldnt afford it but it was mega-nice...and someone here on the jcf has like three larrivees...try running a search in this topic and you should find out more abou them...d.m.

You should grab it. The neckthrus are great guitars. I actually never play mine, because I prefer the Jackson necks, but they are high quality guitars, and if its the same price of a Squire its a no brainer............

I'm thinking I'd stop by after work and inspect it a bit closer. It was pretty beat up too so I might be able to get the price down a bit more.

Probably a Schaller Floyd...
Larrivee are high end guitars.

Schaller made good stuff as I understand it.
I'm really thinking I should snag this puppy. Even if I have to replace the pups or get a new trem or something it would still be pretty cheap. Even cheaper than a couple of used 650 XL's I've seen.

The only Larrivee solid that I ever encountered had one of those "Almost an Ibanez Edge" trems, similar to the units I've seen fitted to some BCs.

Very good guitar BUY IT NOW pickups might also be Schaller .

Also they only made 22 fret guitars and don't mod it,it's fine as it is .

I had a Larrivee Voodoo. It was their version of the RR. It was an extremely well made guitar, had Schaller tuners, Kahler Pro trem, awesome ebony board. It had a great neck on it too, slim and fast. I foolishly sold it. It's the one guitar that I would love to get back.

I slept on it and went back and got it!
I even managed to talk down the price a bit more so actually it was in "Squier Affinity sunburst-territory".

Definately a cool guitar. The Floyd stays in tune perfectly and is in pretty good shape (a bit of rust though). The humbucker pole pieces are a bit rusty too but the sound is still excellent. The only thing that's bothering me is that the shaft to the volume control is slightly bent. The previous owner also tried to shield it with kitchen foil so I'll have to open it up and see if there are any other surprises. All in all, a great deal.

Nice one, is that paint on the bottom of the pickups or has someone tried to shield them in a strange way?
