  • Replacement bridge pickup recommendation for Kramer with resonator

Was slightly unsure where to post this, and the search function was no help, here's hoping I haven't disgraced myself :ROTF:

I've got a 1989 Kramer 'American' with a floyd rose bridge and sustainer, but I feel that the bridge pickup is letting it down somewhat. I'm not sure what the pickup currently is, but I assume it's stock...it isn't F-spaced and isn't hot enough for my liking. Are Kramer stock pickups generally appreciated, or should I have no hesitation in swapping it for something like a dimarzio tonezone? The guitar is all black, will a zebra pickup look completely wrong or just so wrong it's right?

I'd be glad to hear all pickup recommendations, I mostly listen to Iron Maiden and Megadeth, but am getting into Ratt and White Lion at the moment...I'm only 23, I'm working backwards!

edit: perhaps this should've been in hardware, mods feel free to move...my reason for considering 'Guitars by Other Manufacturers' was for Kramer-specific knowledge.

vintagekramer tells me I have an '89 Pacer with a rare floyd rose sustainer pickup...the only one I've seen like mine is on this video. I seem to have Schaller pickup rings, but the pickups only use 1 screw each side, so that seems to prove the bridge pickup is aftermarket.

xbolt, do you know of any artists I can look up that use the JB?
