Well, I guess mine is an old Assassin, then. Darn, I like the name "gunslinger" better Other than the pickups, I can't imagine there is really anything different than a gunslinger......I mean, they look 100% identical in all ways. So an assassin is basically a gunslinger with a single coil in the neck... technically, it is just a version of a gunslinger. So then it still is, technically , a type of gunslinger. That's funny that they went and called it by another name....seems a bit ridiculous.
Well they weren't the only company to do that- Kramer did that too.
You had the Baretta with a single hum in the bridge, then a Pacer Imperial with 2 hums and a Pacer Custom with HSS and a Strat style Pacer Deluxe with HSS also
maybe they could have been following that model?
And to be honest- it does make sense because that way their isn't any confusion between any of the models like with the Ibanez Rgs for example. I can't tell what any of those fucking numbers mean!! :ROTF:
My Guitars
Hohner HW-200 (Natrual Grain)
Slammer By Hamer XP-1 Standard (Wine Red)
Kramer 1984 Custom (Bullseye Black)
Squier Affinity Series P-Bass (Black)
Epiphone Les Paul Classic (Black)
Takamine EG531SSC (Black)
Kramer Vanguard S-440S
Kramer Proaxe Standard (Black Sparkle)
Epiphone Zakk Wylde Les Paul Custom (Camo)
Kramer F-1000 (Black)
Ibanez RG-370 (Urban Digital Camo)
I've never seen one with clouds and that headstock...is that a custom order?
Yes. Custom. I had several Warlocks custom built for me...all with the classic 3 on a side head. IMHO it looks best with that headstock. Also, for me it has to be a bound flat top...the beveled Warlocks look incredibly cartoonish to my eye.
I fell in love with Warlocks (and Waves too!) in 1982 when I saw the guitarist from one of my favorite local Los Angeles bands The Sharks, Spencer Sercombe, playing his custom....
He was a BC Rich Employee and built several custom Warlocks and Waves for himself. The one below in the pics is probably the first CUSTOM Warlock built. 1 Hum with booster (pre-amp), 1 knob, non fine-tune floyd and 3-on a side head. Always loved the 'Shark' paint too on that one.
Spencer also worked at Jackson for some time.
The Sharks later became Shark Island. Here's a couple of pics I took in 1982. Spencer with a couple of his BC's.
damn....killer guitars. I agree it looks a million times better as abound flat-top to my eyes anyway. Can you post a full photo of your flametop warlock...that is a sic guitar!!!!

INCREDIBLE!! There it is!
Man that guitar is one of my 5 'holy grails'.... I was lucky enough to find & buy the other 4 of my holy grails (all Jacksons) but this one is out of reach for me at that price....
Not saying it aint worth it, because if I had the $30k....it would be mine.
Boy this thread really has been threadjacked! At least it's related.
Here's another of Spencer's Warlocks. I took this in 1983. This guitar later had a 3D looking flame graphic added along the lower part of the body. Check out the trem bar! This headstock also looks good on Warlocks as long as it's reverse like this one.
Lorne, can you identify this one?? Sharks singer Rick Czerny (later Black) playing an oddball. I've always wondered what exactly it was. Maybe a proto of some shape they dropped? It was a bolt-on neck. Wierd.

If he didn't need the money for a new roof for his house in Germany, then I'm sure it wouldn't be for sale at all
