  • Ibanez Jem "Bad Horsie"... opinions needed..

I have a line on a brand new one for $1700.00. I love the looks of it,
but will this be a scratch magnet and swirly cloud monster in 3 years?
Anyone have any experience with this Mirrored Jem? Thanks!
I like my RG swirl so much, im sure i would love this one too!

It will become that in 3 minutes, much less 3 years. They are cool, but for $1700, find a nice VWH or a FP. Those are cool, but didn't sell for shit, should show you what the Jem purists think about that one...

        But yes, they are touchy...
        I'm angry because you're stupid

          I have 3 Jems right now and I don't like the 7VWH I have.
          It's just to damn pretty.
I can't get the I wanna be a rockstar feel out of it.
          The Bad Horsie...Ohhhh hell yeah!!

I have a BRMR and previously had an RG20051 (swirl), like yours. They are very similar in terms of neck thickness, rosewood board/dots, etc. If you like the RG20051, you will love the BRMR. I got my BRMR new, and it still looks new - though I am careful with all of my guitars, and certainly with any JEM.

Some of the BRMRs had issues with binding separation from the factory, so watch for that. The fact that it was only available for a limited time will help its value in the future, just like it has for most other discontinued JEMs (e.g., VSBL, BSB).

The thing I don't like about the horsey is the looks of the neck.. so boring compared to the body. It should've had those leds which make the dots light up..
"I hate these filthy neutrals! With enemies, you know where they stand. But with neutrals... who knows? It sickens me!"

1700 is a standard price - nothing special. Only the first-run batches had finish issues. The Wizard II neck is very thin and comfy if you like those - very fast.
I've had dozens of Jems and Universes - well built guitars with good resale value and the trem is better than a Floyd. Offer him 1500 and see what happens.

Quiksilver, you have *awesome* taste in Jems! Although I think the sustainer should be in the BRMR.
