  • Fender Strat Trade For Jackson???

Hey guys, first off, this isn't a for sale or wanted ad. It's just a general value assesment thing I guess.

I don't know how many of you will remember, about 2 years ago I traded for a Mesa Mark IIC from a guy at work, and I posted about it here, to make sure I wasn't ripping him off.

Well, he has a 1989 Fender USA Strat with EMG's and a neck that is just amazing. I've been eyeballing this thing for like 5+ years now. Anyway, he wanted an acoustic and hasn't been playing his strat at all, as he's been playing a few Jackson Dinky's out with his band.

What I offered him was, an Ovation CK057 acoustic, and a White Jackson DK2M (pics that I posted of it can be seen somewhere here), and he's offering the 89 Strat.

What I'm asking is, I don't want to rip him off, and I've got no problem tossing some cash his way. Is there a serious value difference that I should take into account? I just don't want to rip off a long time friend.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Just e-bay pencil it out. However, you have a unique situation in that your are doing a trade. And as long as both of you feel good about it with no BS both of you will know if it's the right thing to do. Is there anything super special or unique about the guitars that should be disclosed?

I think that deal sounds fair. He doesn't really play the Strat. You're
giving him the acoustic he wants and throwing in a guitar similar to
what he's using to play out with now giving him a viable backup or even
a guitar thar might displace his current one. If I was him,I'd jump on that
      deal.

Fett this strat neck is basically orgasmic to play on. It's easilly as comfortable as my soloist.

The DK2M and the CK057 he are getting are dead mint, not a mark on them. The strat has it's fair share from being gigged for several years, before he switched to Jacksons.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't boning him a couple bills, if I was, I'd just add a check to seal it, you know?

If both of you are happy with the deal, it's fair-

Depends on the Jackson, depends on the Fender.

You've got me very curious about this strat...........Does this guitar have the standard strat neck profile (a full C shape that is a little thicker than a soloist) and the standard 9.5 inch radius? What kind of fingerboard wood and what size frets? I usually find strat necks very different from a soloist, and I've always preferred Soloist necks over standard strat necks. I have seen some non-standard Fender necks with 12 inch radius fingerbaords that I've liked, but still never as good as a Charvel or Jackson.

Mr Metal, I'll post pics and measurements soon. It's definitely all original, save the pickups. There's just some magic to this. It's as comfortable as one of my soloists, but different.

Sounds fair to me. It doesn't really matter if the Strat is Japanese or USA or what if you like the EMGs and the neck is amazing. Go for it, be happy
