  • The Guitar Glut

is a real shame as well as an opportunity. There are so many real good guitars out there that get no respect and can be had for a song. The latest example I have I paid $30 at the fleamarket. It's a Gibson Epiphone (1988?) strat style. It's all stock and plays like a dream. On ebay you can't give them away. You guys should start snagging the "not so hot" guitars. You will save big bucks and have a fine piece.

When there are 9000+ listings under "Electric Guitar" on ebay, let those guys pay big bucks for a "Name" guitar. The last 4 guitars/ bass were: $50 for a vintage Memphis; $50 for a Squire Standard 5 string bass; $10 for an "80's Electra and my $30 Epi. That averages to $35 a pop.

I'm pretty much done with buying guitars on ebay. Those 4 guitars I mentioned came from the fleamarket. I saved enough in shipping costs to make them "Free". BTW, my local pawnshop has a lot of nice guitars that I can actually see and touch.

So, fett, if I'm supposed to be going to cash to protect myself from the
coming global supercrash, should I just be buying cheap guitars?

Who knows what will happen to my US dollar....might as well have some kind of a collection.

I picked up an Ibanez AX120 (I know, not the most expensive guitar to begin with) for about 80 bucks and it is in fantastic condition. Very Les Paul-ish in tone, scale and setup. What's even better for me is that the pickup selector is below the strings, unlike a Les Paul (that has always been a hangup for me). Not the "ultimate score", but I threw on some graph tech saddles that I had lyin around and it's pretty nice for the price.,

If this is the same one I have, I rest my case. It has two hours to go however. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=019

Is it my imagination or is the glut coming to an end? I'm down to like one guitar in my Feebay watchlist.
