  • As if I'm not busy enough, I'm also building a Les Paul

I love days where I can work seriously without any distractions. And go home with a feeling of "Well I sure did a hell of a job today."

And as evident by the progress in the built of neck-through solid, today was one of those days. But I also was working on something else aside from that neck-through one.

The Routing template on the Flamed Maple and Cedrella.

The back of the body, cedrella sure looks pretty.

    And shaping it up.

The electronics compartiment, watch it don't rout it out too deep.

    But that wasn't all...

The body after I finished routing, aint that a pretty top.

Last year we built a couple of 335 style guitars and we ended up with a couple of surplus necks, I adopted one of those for my project

The body and neck, as you can see I have yet to rout the channel for the trussrod.

and here it is a few mintues later with the Trussrod neat and flush

And here it is with the fingerboard in place, now where did I leave that fretwire?

But fretting will be for another day, for now I'll gladly take it easy.

Looks great so far, awesome work. The toggle looks a little hard to reach for me. Just my .02 cents.
              Just one more guitar!

A little update, I sanded the body smooth today making life easier on me after I routed out the neck pocket, the spring room for the Kahler and the pickup cavities.

After doing so I made the body wet to expose the gorgeous structure of the wood and took took a couple of pictures.

This will be a flat top guitar but the structure of the wood almost gives the impression that it's an archtop.

Due to the massive load of work in the shop these days I haven't been able to do much on my Les Paul project but somehow I managed to get some work done, routing the neck pocket and it's a tight fit. The neck will be glued in contrary to what the pictures might say.
