How about Carvin

Hello everyone, it came to my mind to get a carvin DC127C, i want to know if anyone have experience with these and how they compare to the Kings! (USA Jacksons), in terms of playability, quality, etc everything

from what i've heard they are pretty damn good, they look awesome, and hell they are good enough for jason becker, marty friedman, allan holdsworth and tony macalpine and no one can deny they know their guitar...not ever heard a bad word about them, and they're fairly well priced as they're factory direct

I have heard they are fairly bright guitars but that is easy to fix with different pups or EQ.

+2. I have never had one of their guitars, but their amps and sound gear are excellent. Many here have had positive comments on Carvin guitars.

They have a LOT of options to choose from...completely made in USA with top-notch quality parts...excellent turn-around time (especially with compared with *cough*). But somehow, their resale value drops quite a bit when the guitars end up on eBay.

About the only thing I can truly criticize Carvin for is their styling, which is a totally subjective matter anyway. IMHO, some of their body styles and headstocks are just a little "off" for my tastes. Some are great, though, like their thinline A/Es and CCTs.

Pretty much everything else about them is top notch all around.

I picked this one up for $800 out the door...dead mint. Claro Walnut
with Fishman Piezo acoustic split system, and Wilkinson Trem..
HEAVY! Besides the weight... the neck is really wonderful. IMO
Carvin offers 1/2 priced guitars. Meaning they should all cost twice
what they do! This Carvin DC 200 that i have is easily as well made
and high quality as ANY USA Jackson. Great stuff.
Especially a tremendous value on the used market!
About a month ago, GC was selling a very clean DC127 with AAAA
quilt top REAL MOP block inlays, and Gold hardware for $600.00!
Try duplicating that quality for the price? Cant be done.

This is the DC-135 I had. A real nice guitar,very light,neckthru,incredible
neck......very easy to play. Sounded a bit too Stratty for my tastes.
Although I sold it for $200 more than I paid for it,I kinda regret not doing
a pup exchange on it and just keeping it.

I love Carvins they are very well made and great bang fo the buck.Just buy used and not take a hit when you sell it.

Quality is EXCELLENT with Carvin's. I've owned 3 and played a quite a few more thru the years. Sound quality is hit or miss though. I'd say 50% sound great and 50% have too little treble or too much treble or too light in the midrange or too bass shy or whatever along those lines. 50/50 ain't so bad by the way... better than Fender odds.

I had a couple. They were nice, but nothing I'd go out of my way to buy again. The neck wasn't really remarkable at all IMHO...
