  • My '95 Gibby Explorer 1976 reissue..

So, I've had my Explorer since I bought it new in '95..A standard Explorer in Tobacco sunburst. It's been played, loved and gigged, and it has the bruises to prove it..It's got the stock hardware in nickel, so I've been toying with the idea to change the hardware to GOLD for some years now. So I ventured out to Ebay-land today, and ordered most of the stuff I needed..Here's the list:

    Duncan JB/Jazz-set
Tone pros TP6 bridge/T1SZ tailpiece in gold
    Grover locking tuners
    Gold dome knobs
    Gold pickup-rings in metal

I'm thinking this will look PORN together with the dark wood of the Explorer, and with the added bonus of the Tone pro-bridge and the Duncans..

Any views? (I'm guessing some people here are gonna ask for before and after pics!

I am thinking that the gold hardware will look great on that finish. I'd like to see it when it is all done.

Don't be surprised when you experience a difference in tone. The gold plated hardware may look better, but the nickel will sound better.

I'll keep that in mind, but I think the tonepros are gonna sound better than the stock tune-o-matic anyway..
