The neck binding gives it away too as well as the trap inlays, the faded didn't have either of those...

Is it me or does it look like it has bronze acoustic strings on it?
    +1 to everything you said.

It IS an SG Standard, and those are bronze strings.

I can tell it's newer than 1998 because mine has an ABR-1 bridge and this one has the Nashville bridge used on current models.

I'm not sure what I'd do, but $595 isn't an option. With case maybe $500 tops. I'd have to see it in person. Pricing it out by parts, you could get $100 for the case, $100 for the pickups, $100 for the rest of the hardware, and $200 for the body.

Let me put it this way. I would be embarassed to put this on ebay. And that is why I will never buy a pricey guitar there.

I agree. For the right price, that guitar could be brought back from the dead. Not for what they are asking though.

The thing is screaming "Hi - I'm stolen!" :ROTF:

The serial # and "Made In USA" should be stamped on the back of the headstock - sounds like it's been sanded off.

That looks like house paint on it, you could probably use Citristrip to get it cleaned up down to it's down to it's old paint. There could also be a broken neck hiding under that paint at the headstock, so beware...

If you're jonesin' for an SG, there's no better deal now than Musicians Friend - the new fadeds are $579 plus free shipping. I have one and they play pretty good, they just have a cheap finish on them...

rsguitarworks could make it look like new it'll cost you $600.00 + to refin back to original. The thing is the serial number is probably filled with paint and thats why you can't see it.I'll bet you strip it and it will be there. It is an SG standard and worth in this condition $300.00 max with a case.Refined around $700.00 do the math you ain't going to make any money.

Nope. The numbers are gone, as in way gone. This is one POS and the pawnshop didn't lose. They probably loaned $100 on this one.

I'd love to have that one and do a crackle finish.
