  • Made a Shell Pink Custom Strat for the daughter - PICS!

Well, finally finished my daughter's guitar for her! It all started as a "I yant a Hello Kitty guitar"-request, which got me thinking - wouldn't a shell pink machine be just as cool, but usable by her when she got older? Hmmm...so my mind got thinking as I looked at the stack of Saga kits in my garage...

    Here's the details:
Saga 3 piece soaked in liquid cement bass wood body :ROTF:
    Saga maple neck
"Imported by me" tuners and pickguard
    GraphTech trees
Charvel Model 2 trem bridge, with GraphTech saddles
    GraphTech pre-slotted Tremnut
3 EMG Select single coil pickups
CTS pots, CRL 5-way switch, Switchcraft jack, orange drop cap and cloth wire from ALLparts
70's "F" neckplate and transition decal (under lacquer)...so no one can claim I'm making a guitar worth a damn...
No S&S, half can ReRanch white primer, one can ReRanch Shell Pink, and 2 cans ReRanch clear on the body; 2 coats ReRanch S&S, 2 coats ReRanch neck Amber and about 10 coats ReRanch clear on the neck...

Turned out ok, save a couple bugs that got (mostly) sanded out before the clear, and the white pearloid trem plate I was going to put on it won't go...as the body is only 1 5/8" thick, making the trem stick out the back ever-so-slightly...

Still need to set-up/intonate, but my daughter could really care less - she's 5 and can hardly wait to start relicing it it the way it's SUPPOSED to be done - with Barbie dolls as slides! :ROTF:

    Anywho, here the pics!

Nice one! And unique too! No one in her area will have one like it.

                  Hey missionguitars1,
That is a great first guitar for a young player.
I was thinking of doing this for my son who is 6.

Great job there. My daughter is almost 18 months, but will have to have her first guitar one day. I don't know what it will be yet, but that's a nice colour.

Very nice looking from the photos. Your daughter is lucky to have it - I hope she'll get hooked on playing as a result of it.

Yeah, Bill's been getting a lot of gigs of late, so it's completely hit and miss as far as the store being open. There's a sticky in the forum that gets updated when the site's open, so I'd say subscribe to it, you should get an email when Joe updates it...FWIW, your SD Star's twin SHOULD be done soon - I'm getting there!

And Robert, thanks for the complement! I hope it "holds value" better than a Hello Kitty Squier! :ROTF:
