  • I went to the vintage guitar fair in Veenendaal today...

And I met one of my country's original rock stars. Andy Tielman of the Tielman brothers.

Furthermore I went home with a HUGE bargain, a 1984 American standard series Stratocaster which needs a little TLC, I bought it for 150 bucks. Talk about a bargain.

Don't even think about redoing anything on it. If it sets up well strung up leave it alone. But before you string it. Take it apart and look for numbers on the neck butt, the pots and the pups. If it is stock, you have a major score.

About the floyd. it's an ESP branded thing and was an aftermarked installation, and the one who did it screwed up big time because it doesn't line up at all, the low E string is OFF THE FINGERBOARD. And the blocks meant to keep the strings in place are all warn down, so I guess it's time for bridge removal.

That is what you get for $150. If it is any consolation, I would have bought it.

well if you see what a fully loaded american standard strat body sets you back on Ebay it's still a bargain buy.

Agreed. Needs some TLC, but after you rehab it, it should be sweet. Also, I'm wearing the same tshirt today :ROTF:

The guitar as it is now, the original neck was too badly warped (and warped SIDEWAYS) to use so I put on another neck I had lying around and I replaced the floyd with a hipshot multibender bridge. It plays and sounds really good.

The only problem when you put a floyd on a vintage radius neck the high and low E strings will be way to high off the fretboard to play
                          Really? well screw Mark Twain.

How do you figure? The low E and high E string saddles are the lowest of the saddles. The B and A strings are higher, and the G and D strings are the highest.
