But damn, I've played this game for too long, and I am tired of it. Im 27 years old, and have owned upwards of 35+ guitars. Four USA Jacksons, 7 Ibanez's, 3 Peavey Wolfgangs, Custom Warmoth's, Kramers, Ernie Balls, etc, etc, 3 Carvins, etc.....

USA Jacksons have always been my favourite, but they always have one flaw, I am too scared to beat on them, and "wear" them out. Ive also had bad luck in that two of the USA's I purchased had major issues that the sellers didnt feel like disclosing at the time. (raised frets, overly worn frets)

The other two were great guitars, if not somewhat HEAVY. the one mahog SL2H was a complete beauty, but it was heavy after a while.....

There's one guitar that does everything for me perfect, except for one MAJOR thing. Thats Carvin, my chubby fingers just arent used to, and dislike the shorter 25" scale. OTher then that, I LOVE THEM. Ive mailed them asking for a custom order, but they dont even respond.

I like Ibanez guitars, but I hate the Wizard neck. I like the Wizard 2 neck, but they dont offer it on any of their prestige guitars. I want to pay good money for a quality guitar that will last, and the cheaper Ibanez guitars just don't appeal to me. However, theres one that I am interested in, the MTM2. It has the fixed double locking bridge, and it's simplistic design with tunign stability appeals to me. BUT, it's made in Indonesia, and It's 600$....... Thats HARD to justify when I can pick up a 900$ USA Jackson which is a lot more.

I dont know what to do with myself. I need a double locking trem, a 25.5 inch scale with at least a 43 mm nut, and Im stuck between a rock and a USA Jackson that I KNOW I will be scared to play......

Here's the other catch, I dont want to spend over 1000$ So that means I can buy a great used guitar, but cant buy anything silly......

Anyone got any ideas, Im running out and I need to purchase some damn gear..........

Team "J" craft Ibanez...and never look back...
Have you spent any time with a $1500 Ibanez?
Everything about them is great, with (ahem) none of
    the Charvel/Jackson problems...ever Quality control
is superb on upper end J'Craft axes.

Ibanez? Those things suck ass. lol I'm just kidding. They do have great necks if you like them thin. I've been thinking about picking up one of the higher RGs. I would never buy a signature JEM.

if you buy higher end used gear you can always sell it for what u paid for it sometimes even more. IMHO buy what you like, take care of it & it will always be worth it. buy the mod 6 or USA made soloist & be happy playing it, if your afraid to play or scratch it, then maybe u need a new hobby. they are guitars, meant to be played. I play my 86 soloist all the time, granted i wouldnt gig with it. When i play it at home i dont worry about it, just play it. & its DEAD mint....other than some of the black worn off the top of the E & A saddles it look brand new.

You can't just Email Carvin and hope they get back to you.
they probably won't, but if you call them (and ask for Kevin Wall)
          1-800-854-2235
You most likely will be able to get what you want.
I've had great results with these guys but only over the phone.
Kevin handled my 7 string order.

thanks Kmanick, I will try that out.

This is the honest truth, I wont spend mroe then 1k this time around, but if Carvin offered me the guitar I wanted, I would pay at least 1500$-2000... I know It'd be a keeper, the reason being is that I could get SS frets, and I find the Graphite rods they put in their necks REALLY help stability in my CONSTANTLY changing evironment. In sask we have CRAZY weather andf all my Carvins never needed major truss work!!!

You know, their 7-string necks ARE 25.5" scale; I wonder if they'd shave one down for you and build you a 6-string around one of those necks? I wonder if anybody's ever suggested that to them specifically? You'd think so, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

A 7-string neck with the second pointy headstock that they'll still do if you ask them, like the new reissue Ultra V has.....

See if you can get your hands on an ESP M-II model. The neck is PC-1 ish otherwise the guitar is similar to Ibanez Prestiges which I know you like.

Also, I like a satin/unfinished neck. When a person scuffs up the neck with some scotch brite or light sandpaper, it also kills the value of the guitar.

                    Three fretjobs though, wow!
***** First off, i noticed u are buying ONLY used Jacksons? Why not
sell 3 and buy just one brand spankin new? That way you dont have fret
issues? Blemishes etc? Sounds to me that you would be better off
with 5 great Brand New Axes...as opposed to 35 that you have some
issues with? Maybe, just a thought? Ive got 11 guitars, and i like
                    them all.

He doesn't HAVE 35 guitars, he's gone through 35. And buying a brand new Jackson doesn't mean no issues either. As we all know from stories of JCFers posted here, Jackson can be pretty unresponsive about issues that bother consumers. They declare things to be non-issues and you get to live with them.

Hah, yah, just like Lerx said.

I sold a MINT soloist a few months ago with APC pickups. It had no issues. It was great, and played amazing.

But it was like holding a baby. Things were also a little different back then, with less $$$ to go around...

Im still on the fence, but I need to do something ASAP, Ive got music in my fingers, and I need a new weapon!

You could go to Lee Garver and have a custom guitar made to your specs for 1500 or talk to LLoyd at San Dimas?

People seem to have good things to say about both.

This is easy. This is EXACTLY what you want and need. I don't really play this one much because I do like the thin wizard necks and these neck-thru RGT3120's have significantly thicker necks.
