  • 1991 Gibson Explorer '76

Here are a few pictures of my latest purchase 1991 Explorer. I have had it for a few weeks and sent it out for some minor repairs. I spent an hour playing it tonight and man...talk about chunky! It also has a great full clean sound. I got it back today a set up and it is plays and sounds like a dream.

I also love explorers. My first guitar was an electric blue 81-83 explorer but I sold it like a dumbass. I have been looking for another blue explorer but no luck so far.
No honey, I have always had this Jackson....

Congrats. It is beautiful. I too, have always loved Explorers. I still have 2. A 1976 natural finish and a 1990 white very similar to yours. Mine has chrome hardware, Duncan pups and a black pickguard. I hated the pickups it came with. They were the ones with the circuit board on the bottom of them.

Very nice. I'd want to play some Scorpions tunes with that.

update...this guitar is sweet. Tone fatter than my Les Paul (never thought I would say that) and the balance is perfect!

Sweet. I have had a few 90 and 91 explorers. My favorite years for these actually because the ones I owned were light and resonant. I love explorers and firebirds but I would say that the Explorer is the easiest and most well balanced Gibson out there. They sound great to so it is easy to understand why you like it so much. The white ones are rare to find. Some came with ebony boards back then too. Cool. Congrats!
