  • my new custom shop "Charvel"

OK, it's not a real Charvel. But it is completely custom and brand new. I really wanted to order a real brand new Custom Shop Charvel, but because of the ridiculous prices and up to 2 year wait, I decided to take a different route.

I had Denny at Mojo Bodies make the body. The neck is from Musikraft. The paint is by Marty Bell. And the whole thing was put together and set up by a guy named John Wescott. They all did amazing work. Because I used independent guys, I was able to ask a lot of questions and get super excellent customer service.

The neck is simply amazing. The paint turned out great. I emailed Marty some pics of a few different Jackson PC1's with the Solar finish and asked him to copy it. He nailed it and only took a week!

Playability: this thing kicks ass! Best playing guitar I've ever had my hands on. Now, I've only played a couple of newer Charvels since FMIC took over and they weren't custom shop, but they were no where near this guitar.

The whole thing took about 4 months and half of that was just waiting for the neck. Plus, I paid maybe less than half of what a real Charvel would have cost. I thought about putting the logo on the headstock, but decided against it. Why give credit to Charvel when they had nothing to do with this amazing guitar? OK, pics...

Wilkinson trem, Seymour Duncan JB and Jazz. I haven't been able to get those felt washers yet for the strap buttons.

I know what you mean. I wasn't even thinking about getting a new custom guitar made until I stumbled onto this site. As soon as I started looking at all the cool guitars, the wheels started turning.

Very Nice guitar man! Here is a link to some felt washers http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware...t_Washers.html

Create your own headstock logo (although yours looks good without one) http://www.best-decals.com/index.php...roducts_id=937

Thanks for the link. I've been trying to find a shop around here so I could just buy two instead of a whole pack, but no dice. I may have to order the ten pack.

That looks killer.... I love the solar finish. Marty did a great job at bringing out the figure in the maple. Nice taste in hardware to bring it all together.

I have done the same thing with many builds. I have yet to own a USA Charvel due to costs etc.. I was putting guitars together in 1976-77, right around when Wayne Charvel took off making guitars for customers. Very nice job and all those guy's do great work. Marty is fast isn't he!
